Shawlong Koufang

A long face, grey eyes, and black hair worn in a braid slung over one shoulder set Shawlong apart. What is left of his Hollow mask crowns the top of his head, one section draping across the upper left of his face while a long spike juts out to his right. His Hollow hole sits at the center of his abdomen, tucked out of sight beneath a standard Arrancar uniform. In his earlier Adjuchas shape he was a tall, slender creature with a light purple body traced by two black lines, a knight like mask trailing a long claw tipped tail, chest armor, and skeletal clawed limbs, and before that he existed as a Gillian.

Shawlong is the thinker of his group, an analyst who can size up an enemy's power and lay out how it works with real confidence. Set against his rougher comrades he comes across as measured and articulate, carrying himself with a poise and courtesy the others lack.

Once a Gillian who grew into an Adjuchas, Shawlong headed a small pack that also held Di Roy Rinker, Yylfordt Granz, Edrad Liones, Nakeem Grindina, and a couple of others. They tried to hunt a tiny Adjuchas who instead devoured several of them, and Shawlong, recognizing that strength, offered him a place as their king in a bid to climb toward Vasto Lorde. When they learned their growth was already capped, that Adjuchas, Grimmjow, chose to break away, and at Shawlong's urging he took a bite out of each of the five who would later become his Fraccion.

In the Arrancar arc Shawlong joins Grimmjow's unsanctioned strike on Karakura Town and squares off against captain Hitsugaya, coolly explaining that Arrancar numbers mark birth order rather than strength and that the Espada are the ones ranked by power. He wounds the captain badly and releases his Resurreccion, Tijereta, on the command Snip, gaining armor, long claws, and a bladed tail that let him slice through Daiguren Hyorinmaru while Hitsugaya fought at a fraction of full strength. Once the Shinigami release their limiters, his Fraccion are cut down and Hitsugaya freezes him solid, shattering him along with the ice. In battle he wields high spiritual power, expert swordsmanship, Sonido, the sensing skill Pesquisa, and a tactician's read of his foes.
