Having cut down Tier Harribel with a single stroke, Sousuke Aizen muses that he alone has proven mightier than his entire roster of Espada. The wounded Harribel lashes back and buries her blade in him, only to discover that the figure she pierced was a hypnotic double. The true Aizen drives his sword into her shoulder from behind and tells her she will never lift a weapon against him again, leaving her to drop toward the rubble. He then rounds on the assembled captains and Visored, sneering at the latter as counterfeit Arrancar and daring them to come at him.

Down among the wreckage, Mashiro Kuna assumes the fighting is over now that the final Espada has fallen, but Wonderweiss Margela stirs awake inside the crater she left him in. Brushing off Kensei Muguruma's caution that prolonged combat will burn out her mask, she boasts of hours of stamina to spare and boots Wonderweiss into a shattered building. He retaliates by seizing her scarf and hurling her through several structures, ripping the fabric in the process. Enraged over the torn scarf, Mashiro fires a kick-delivered Super Cero, which Wonderweiss cancels with a scream before pummeling her as her mask splits apart. As the boy rears back to finish her, Kensei catches the collapsing Mashiro and blocks the blow, growling that he is not the kind of grown man who takes it easy on children.

Aizen dispatches Harribel and exposes her counterstrike as a strike on a decoy, then challenges the remaining Shinigami and mask-wearers to fight. On the lower battlefield, Wonderweiss revives and overwhelms Mashiro, shredding her scarf and cracking her Hollow mask, until Kensei intervenes to shield her and confront the awakened Arrancar himself.

This is the ninth chapter collected in volume 43, KINGDOM OF HOLLOWS, which wraps up with the following installment. Its events reached the anime across episode 284, covering Harribel's downfall, and episode 285, which carries the Hiyori subplot forward. The stylized title mirrors the preceding chapter, splitting the fate of a falling Espada from the brawl still raging below.
