Cang Du reels as a wing of ice reforms on Hitsugaya's back; the captain can only guess that Hyorinmaru wishes to come home. On another roof, Marechiyo whisks the fallen Sui-Feng clear of BG9 with a burst of Shunpo and presses a Shin'eiyaku into her palm. Her Bankai answers, and BG9's grip on his stolen power begins to fail as her newly Hollow-tinged strength eats at him. She rises, triggers Jakuho Raikoben, and looses its missile to swallow him in a sky-splitting blast.

Cang mocks the notion that a blade holds a will of its own and rains kicks on Hitsugaya, only to shudder as the captain welcomes an altered Hyorinmaru back to his side. A shard of Hollow mask forms over Hitsugaya's left eye, the brief Hollowfication Urahara had described. When Cang fires She Jin Zhao, Hitsugaya freezes the blast and seals him inside a towering cross of ice, apologizing that it is not the pentacle Cang might have preferred.

An unimpressed Bazz-B writes off his fallen comrade and walks away. Across the city the reclaimed Bankai pour out of the Sternritter's Medallions, and in his throne room Uryu can scarcely believe how swiftly the battle has swung.

Sui-Feng reclaims her Bankai and destroys BG9 with Jakuho Raikoben. Hitsugaya reunites with Hyorinmaru, undergoes momentary Hollowfication, and entombs Cang Du inside a cross of ice. The stolen Bankai stream out of the Sternritter's Medallions across the Seireitei.
