Summary

Confronted by the human-dolls, Denji opts to flee, but his escape routes are sealed and he is forced to run his chainsaw through one of them. Guilt makes him hold back, letting the dolls slowly close in around him. Quanxi then bursts in, blasting the rest of the dolls apart and telling Denji they only mimic real people. When he asks how she can be certain, she answers that accepting it is the sole way he will manage to kill them, repeating that ignorance is bliss.

Key Events

Seizing the lull, Santa Claus smashes through a wall to seize Quanxi, only to be ripped apart again by her blasts. Glancing up, Quanxi sees that night has arrived, and the new darkness amplifies Santa Claus's abilities still further. She knocks Denji toward a gas station while snatching Quanxi's bolts from the air. Turning around, Quanxi finds that the corpses of Long and Pingtsi have been remade into dolls and that Tsugihagi is now a hostage. Unwilling to fight her former companions, Quanxi takes a hit as the Pingtsi Doll drives a blade through her chest, while Santa Claus wonders aloud if Quanxi might be converted into a doll as well.

Notes

Set in Volume 8 during the International Assassins arc, this chapter pushes the Hell fight to its peak as darkness turns Santa Claus into a far deadlier foe. Quanxi's refusal to strike at the dolls made from her allies leaves her badly wounded, and the cliffhanger turns to Denji, who douses himself in gasoline, sparks his chainsaws into flame, and lunges at Santa Claus, carving into her as she screams.
