Chaka

Tall, broad, and dark-skinned, Chaka makes for an intimidating presence, his black hair of middling length and his long, wide nose recalling the jackal he turns into. He leaves his muscular chest bare under a pale-green tunic and wraps several belts at his midsection: a pale-red striped one, a wide crimson one, and a slim purple band. Large golden beads hang at his throat, a dark-green coat falls from his shoulders in the manner of a cape, and a huge sword with a blue hilt sits on his right side.

Chaka is built on discipline, always severe and demanding. His devotion to the royal household runs absolute, and he will gladly put himself in danger for them, as he showed by rushing Crocodile to give Vivi a window to flee. Under that hard surface lies deep loyalty to those he holds dear, above all the worry he carries for his closest friend, Pell.

Holding the post of Commander among the Royal Guards, Chaka is an experienced and able combatant whose strength is the sword. His power comes from the Jackal-model Inu Inu no Mi, a Zoan that grants him the shapes of a jackal and of a human-jackal hybrid, raising his speed and might and earning him his title. He likes to blend that transformation with his blade work, clamping the sword in his teeth as he charges. The weapon itself is an unusual one he uses hand in hand with his beast forms.

A native of Arabasta, Chaka worked his way up to Commander and, some thirteen years earlier, teamed with Pell to crush kidnappers hunting the young Vivi. While Koza led the Sand-Sand Clan as a child, Chaka demanded the right to train him. When Crocodile attacked the kingdom, furious that the Warlord had denied his men an honorable death, he went after the Suna Suna no Mi user by himself to buy Vivi and Koza time, and though quickly defeated he survived. Afterward he stayed on as a protector of the realm, escorted King Cobra to the Levely, confronted a guard once the king vanished, and finally helped bury his late liege in Arabasta.
