
Shuya Shinazugawa is one of the younger brothers of Sanemi and Genya. A loving child raised among seven siblings, he is killed the night his mother returns home transformed into a demon and rushes to greet her at the door.
Shuya is a small boy with fair skin and dark hair cropped close to his head. He has large, almond-shaped purple eyes and resembles his two oldest brothers, Sanemi and Genya. He wears a tan kimono fastened with a two-tone sash of black and light brown.
Like the rest of the Shinazugawa children, Shuya is warm and affectionate. He adores his mother, who in turn shielded him from his father's violence again and again. When she fails to come home one night, he stays awake waiting for her and runs eagerly to the door to welcome her the moment she arrives, a moment of love that tragically costs him his life.

Shuya is born to Shizu and Kyogo Shinazugawa and raised alongside six siblings. His abusive father frequently beats the family, but his mother always steps in to protect them, and the household finds peace only after Kyogo is killed. One night, while Shuya and several of his siblings sleep, Sanemi leaves to search for their mother and Genya stays behind. A knock comes at the door, and Shuya calls out that their mother has returned. Despite Genya's warning, he and the others run to open it, and Shizu, now a demon, rushes in and kills him instantly. After the final battle, a mortally wounded Sanemi glimpses Shuya and the other lost siblings at peace in the afterlife.
