Vegeta goes on the offensive, raiding a Namekian village to claim a Dragon Ball by force and hiding it underwater so Frieza cannot find it. Meanwhile, Dende leads Krillin on a journey to meet the Grand Elder, the ancient patriarch of the Namekian people.
Operating independently for the first time on Namek, Vegeta uses the ki-sensing skills he picked up on Earth to track nearby power levels. He briefly detects Gohan, Krillin, and Dende in the distance, but a fortunate distraction from a large Namekian fish throws him off their trail. Free to pursue his own agenda, Vegeta locates a Namekian village with roughly twenty inhabitants and demands their Dragon Ball.
The village elder refuses to surrender the sacred orb, and Vegeta responds with brutal efficiency. He wipes out every Namekian in the settlement and retrieves the Dragon Ball from one of the huts. Rather than keeping it on his person where Frieza's forces might find it, Vegeta hurls it into a nearby lake, a calculated move to keep the ball hidden while he collects more.
Vegeta's approach to the Dragon Ball hunt reveals the cold, strategic mind beneath his warrior exterior. He does not simply want to collect the balls; he wants to ensure that no one else can assemble the complete set without him. By hiding each ball he finds, Vegeta creates a situation where Frieza can never make his wish, buying the Saiyan prince time to accumulate more power and more leverage.
While Vegeta terrorizes the countryside, Dende convinces Krillin to accompany him to the home of Grand Elder Guru. The ancient Namekian is the source of the planet's Dragon Balls, and Dende believes he can help the Earthlings in ways they cannot imagine. The journey is dangerous with Vegeta and Frieza's soldiers patrolling the skies, but Dende's knowledge of Namek's geography gives them an advantage.
Krillin trusts the young Namekian's judgment and follows his lead across the alien terrain. Their alliance is built on necessity; neither side has many options, and both share a common enemy. The trip to Guru's tower could change the balance of power on Namek entirely, if they can reach it alive.
Back at his temporary base, Frieza begins to suspect that Vegeta is working against him. The tyrant's instincts are sharp, and the absence of both Dodoria and a Dragon Ball from a recently scouted village confirms his fears. The chess match between Frieza and Vegeta intensifies, with both sides racing to gather the mystical orbs before the other can complete the set.
Frieza is a patient strategist, but his patience has limits. Every hour that passes without progress toward his wish for immortality chips away at his composure. The once-orderly operation on Namek is descending into chaos, and Frieza knows that controlling Vegeta is no longer an option.
