An Unlikely Opponent

As the fourth semifinal match begins, Yamcha sizes up his opponent and immediately dismisses him as a non-threat. Shen is thin, unremarkable in appearance, and carries none of the physical presence of a seasoned martial artist. Brimming with confidence, Yamcha offers to let Shen throw the first strike. Shen obliges with a punch that misses badly, but as he stumbles from his own momentum, he accidentally delivers a sharp kick to Yamcha's ribs. The blow is genuinely painful, and the crowd erupts in laughter at Yamcha's expense.

Adding Insult to Injury

Embarrassed and eager to end the humiliation quickly, Yamcha charges forward with full force. Shen ducks out of what appears to be sheer panic, causing Yamcha to sail right over him. When Shen stands back up, the top of his head collides squarely with Yamcha's groin. The arena audience roars with laughter again, and Yamcha is left seething with frustration. He insists the hit did not hurt, claiming he has conditioned every part of his body through training. Shen expresses relief, saying he would have felt terrible if the fight ended on such an undignified note.

The True Shen Emerges

With both fighters now declaring serious intent, the tone of the match shifts completely. Shen announces he will take the next move and rockets toward Yamcha, burying a sharp elbow directly into his face. The impact sends Yamcha tumbling backward and crashing onto his back. Stunned by the sudden escalation, Yamcha picks himself up and goes on the offensive, throwing his best punches and kicks. Shen blocks every single attack as though it were effortless, casually pointing out the flaws in Yamcha's technique and even offering pointers during the exchange. The spectators, the announcer, and even the fighters backstage are left with the same question: just who is this Shen?
