Vegeta chases Krillin to Bulma's hiding spot to claim the One-Star Dragon Ball, but Zarbon arrives moments later, having spotted them both by pure chance. The rematch between Vegeta and Zarbon's monstrous form begins in earnest, and the Saiyan prince demonstrates that his near-death recovery has closed the gap, blinding Zarbon with a handful of sand before delivering a crushing blow.
After spotting Krillin carrying the One-Star Dragon Ball, Vegeta gives chase. He is convinced that seizing this ball will complete his set of seven, still unaware that Gohan has already retrieved the one he hid underwater. Zarbon, scouring the area without a scouter, catches a lucky glimpse of Krillin and Vegeta streaking across the sky. Recognizing Krillin from their earlier encounter near one of the villages, Zarbon takes off after them both. Vegeta senses the warrior's energy closing in from behind and silently resolves to finish what their first fight started.
Krillin reaches the cave where Bulma has been hiding and finds her sitting outside reading, completely unaware of the danger converging on her position. He tells her he needs to bring Gohan to the Grand Elder, but Bulma reveals that Gohan already left on his own to recover a Dragon Ball. Before Krillin can process this news, he feels Vegeta's energy bearing down on them. The Saiyan prince lands and announces bluntly that he wants the Dragon Ball. Seconds later, Zarbon arrives as well, setting up a tense three-way standoff.
After a brief exchange of words, Zarbon triggers his transformation once more, his body swelling into the grotesque monster form that overwhelmed Vegeta in their previous encounter. He launches himself at Vegeta, fully expecting to dominate again. But the Saiyan prince has changed. The healing tank aboard Frieza's ship restored him completely, and the near-death experience pushed his power to new heights. Vegeta dodges Zarbon's opening attacks cleanly, then takes to the air. As Zarbon pursues, Vegeta scoops up a fistful of dirt and hurls it into the monster's eyes. Temporarily blinded and snarling in frustration, Zarbon cannot react as Vegeta closes the distance and slams a devastating punch into his exposed back.
