Piccolo contacts Gohan telepathically through King Kai and demands to be revived first, knowing his resurrection will also restore Kami and Earth's Dragon Balls. As the wishes unfold, Vegeta wakes up and discovers what has happened. He arrives furious, insisting the final wish be used for his immortality while Frieza closes in fast.
With Frieza and possibly Vegeta bearing down on them, Gohan, Krillin, and Dende must decide quickly how to use Porunga's three wishes. King Kai opens a telepathic channel, and Piccolo speaks directly to the group on Namek. His plan is shrewd: if Porunga revives him first, Kami will automatically return to life on Earth, which will reactivate Earth's Dragon Balls. Yamcha and Tien both praise the clever thinking.
Piccolo then requests the second wish for himself as well. He wants to be transported to Namek so he can personally avenge what Frieza has done to the Namekian people. He leaves the third wish entirely up to them.
Dende relays the first wish to Porunga, and Piccolo is restored to life. At that same moment, back on Earth, Kami gasps back into existence on the Lookout, startling Mr. Popo. Meanwhile, at Frieza's spaceship, Vegeta stirs from his nap. He senses Frieza's ki drawing near, spots the darkened sky, and sees Porunga towering in the distance. Realizing what the Earthlings have done, he rockets toward them in a fury.
Dende speaks the second wish, and Piccolo vanishes from King Kai's planet. Before the group can act on the third wish, Vegeta lands among them, seething. He accuses them of squandering their only chance to defeat Frieza, which was to grant him immortality.
Gohan nervously tells Vegeta that one wish remains, which calms him slightly. Frieza, now close enough to see Porunga's massive form against the dark sky, checks his scouter and reads an enormous power level. He realizes the dragon has been summoned. Vegeta demands that Dende use the final wish immediately to make him immortal, as Frieza is almost upon them. The chapter closes on Piccolo, now standing on Namek for the first time, gazing at the world his ancestors once called home.
