Omori works on repairing Jaco's spaceship and discovers that a rare blue metal called Sky Gold is needed to restore it to working condition. With a price tag of nineteen million yen for the minimum amount required, the pair face a daunting financial obstacle. They decide to head to East City for supplies, with Jaco donning a disguise to pass among humans for the first time.
Omori begins examining Jaco's spaceship in earnest, marveling at technology that surpasses anything humanity has achieved. Jaco agrees that a super elite's vessel naturally contains the finest equipment in the galaxy. When Omori asks whether becoming a Galactic Patrolman is difficult, Jaco explains the organization operates under the Galactic King's direct authority. During his own application, five positions were available and nine people applied, yielding a 55% acceptance rate. Omori is unimpressed.
Through careful analysis, Omori determines that a substance used to power the ship's laser system broke loose during the lunar collision. He locates a fragment and sets about identifying whether the material exists on Earth. While Omori works, Jaco explores the island, hurls a piece of scrap metal skyward, and destroys it with his Ray Gun in a single blast. He attempts a dramatic holstering pose but fumbles the finish.
Omori delivers mixed news: the substance is an extraordinarily rare blue metal called Sky Gold. A full amount would cost seventy-six million yen, though Jaco needs only a quarter to reach headquarters, bringing the total to nineteen million. Jaco is stunned. The television broadcasts updates about the Twinkle 8 launch featuring idol An Azuki, whose catchy song Jaco dismisses publicly but hums privately.
With groceries running low, Omori proposes a trip to East City. Jaco volunteers to come along, eager to observe human society. Omori outfits him in a trench coat and hat to conceal his alien appearance, advising him to blend in among the city's eccentric population.
