Tights heads to East City for groceries and returns with both supplies and a small piece of Sky Gold she purchased with three million yen. Omori successfully installs the metal and restores power to Jaco's spaceship, but a careless collision with the wooden canopy during a test flight destroys the ship's communication antenna, leaving Jaco still unable to contact the Galactic Patrol.
Tights prepares to head to East City for groceries, pausing to admire Jaco's spaceship on the dock. As she departs in Omori's boat, she teases Jaco by calling him "Mask Man," a nickname that continues to torment him. Omori explains that few people know the island exists. While Tights is gone, Omori completes the remaining mechanical repairs on the ship, though it still cannot function without Sky Gold.
Jaco demonstrates the spaceship's controls to Omori, boasting that even someone mechanically ignorant can pilot it effortlessly. Omori wonders why he crashed it in the first place. After five hours with no sign of Tights, Jaco grows suspicious and suggests she may have stolen the boat to sell information about them. Omori defends her, reminding him she helped them escape the police.
Tights finally returns with groceries, personal luggage, and a small piece of Sky Gold costing three million yen. She has decided to move in, though Omori informs her the island is not actually his and he must leave within six days. Despite the fragment being tiny, Tights suggests it might be enough to power the communication equipment so Jaco can radio for rescue.
Omori melts the Sky Gold and fabricates a component for the engine. When Jaco activates the vessel, it roars to life. He launches into a test flight but crashes through the wooden canopy on takeoff. After a successful loop around the island, the ship flies perfectly. However, when Jaco tries the radio, there is no signal. Tights identifies the problem: the antenna was destroyed in the canopy collision, rendering communication with headquarters impossible once again.
