Kazuyuki Sogabe was a Japanese voice actor (1948-2006) from Chiba Prefecture who voiced South Kai in Dragon Ball Z and appeared in Dragon Ball films. He also served as lead guitarist in the voice actors' rock band SLAPSTICK.
Sogabe voiced South Kai in Dragon Ball Z, providing the authority and wisdom befitting one of the four Supreme Kais who oversee the martial arts tournament. He also voiced Android 13 in the theatrical film Dragon Ball Z: Super Android 13!, and later provided the voice for Dr. Myuu in Dragon Ball GT. His contributions spanned multiple eras of the franchise, from the original series through the GT continuation.
Beyond his voice acting career, Sogabe was a talented musician who served as lead guitarist for SLAPSTICK, a rock band composed of fellow voice actors including Toshio Furukawa, Tōru Furuya, and others. The band was active from 1977 to 1986, reuniting in 2007 to honor deceased members. This dual career demonstrated the multifaceted talents of Dragon Ball's voice cast.
