Summer Will Be Here Soon

The season closes on partings and quiet resolve. Kazuma leaves without a word to Kyo, Yuki keeps his uncertainty to himself, and a dinner at Shigure's draws much of the family together. Beneath the everyday gatherings, a sense of coming change gathers, hinting that the bonds holding the curse in place may not last forever.

As Kazuma prepares to depart, he tells Tohru he took in Kyo to atone for words he once spoke to his own grandfather. Kyo finds them and apologizes for being a burden, and with everything finally spoken aloud, master and student deepen their bond as Kyo pledges to grow stronger. Kagura's early exit leaves Yuki unsettled about his own feelings, which Hatsuharu picks up on and raises with a worried Tohru.

Speaking with Yuki, Hatsuharu grants that he may keep his emotions private so long as he does not leave Tohru fretting, and Yuki commits to bettering himself little by little. Many of the zodiac are invited to Shigure's for an after-school dinner. Elsewhere, Hiro looks in on Rin at the hospital while Shigure stays near Akito, and both sense the possibility that the family curse could one day break.

As the first-season finale, the episode adapts the rest of chapter thirty-four, chapter thirty-five, and the final pages of chapter forty-eight, folding in later material as a teaser for the season to come. Caitlin Glass directed the dub over a script by Bonny Clinkenbeard and Jeramey Kraatz, with no opening and One Step Closer as the ending. Its title comes from a line of Tohru's, and it marks the first appearances of Isuzu, Kakeru Manabe, and Machi Kuragi.
