Conquest

Standing near six and a half feet, Conquest looms as an aged yet mountainous Viltrumite, his gray hair receding, his lined face set with crooked teeth beneath the thick mustache every grown male of his race wears. Age has not softened his frame, which stays thickly muscled and menacing.

A run-in on the Savage Planet, when a virus had crippled his healing, left permanent marks. A long scar slashes diagonally from his left temple across a blinded right eye down to the cheek, and a Rognarr tore away his right arm below the bicep. In its place sits a cybernetic limb of bronze and silver plating lit with amethyst glows. His garb follows standard Viltrumite fashion, though his rank earns him a refined take on the empire's emblem.

Few Viltrumites match Conquest for sheer savagery. Where his kin drape their conquests in duty or ideology, he simply relishes the violence, treating the empire's campaigns as an excuse to fight and dominate. He gravitates toward opponents who fight back, dragging out battles so he can pile on pain, and he happily turns innocents into tools of terror to shatter an enemy's will. Contempt colors everything; he taunts his foes even while bleeding, and he weaponizes their loved ones without a flicker of restraint, targeting the bonds Mark, Oliver, and Eve hold dear.

Beneath the bravado runs a thread of loneliness, since the empire never gave him a true name, only the purpose stamped on him as a living weapon, a bitterness his arrogance almost always buries. For all his ferocity he knows his place in the ranks and bows to Thragg alone. After his failure on Earth he knelt before the Grand Regent, confessed his defeat, and asked to be punished as a lesson to others, yet nothing about his cruelty ever changed.

The empire treated Conquest as its ultimate sanction, a veteran unleashed only when nothing short of overwhelming brutality would do. His path into the story begins with a mission to judge whether Invincible had done his duty and subjugated Earth. That confrontation, later called the Advent of Conquest, pushed Mark to his absolute limit and still took Atom Eve's full power to end, with Conquest gravely wounding Eve and battering Mark before Eve's searing blast and a barrage of headbutts finally dropped him.

The Global Defense Agency locked his unconscious body inside The Block, but once healed he broke free and returned to his masters to answer for the loss. Thragg, the one Viltrumite he ranks below, spared him and handed him a last shot at redemption: hunt down the empire's traitors, Nolan and his son. That charge carried him into the Viltrumite War, where a stronger, more resilient Mark met him in a rematch. This time Invincible weathered everything Conquest threw at him, including having his gut torn open, locked the old warrior in a chokehold, and strangled the life out of him. Nolan, who had always respected his raw might, laid him to rest with a proper burial.

Cecil Stedman rated him the strongest Viltrumite the agency had ever faced, powerful enough to rival even Nolan, a match borne out when the two clashed to a standstill. His feats read like a catalog of destruction, from leveling city blocks with a single flying charge to shattering Eve's energy constructs, all backed by the flight, blistering speed, near-invulnerability, and regeneration common to his race.
