Yukako Yamagishi Dreams of Cinderella

Unable to bring herself near Koichi, a depressed Yukako wanders into the Cinderella Beauty Salon, where the beautician Aya Tsuji explains that a person's physiognomy shapes how they are loved and offers to improve Yukako's face and her romantic luck. Skeptical but with nothing to lose, Yukako agrees to a thirty-minute trial, and Aya's Stand Cinderella remodels her features while her eyes are closed.

Out on the street, Yukako happens upon Koichi, who wants to make peace after their earlier clash, to her delight. They even touch hands, but the moment the time limit lapses Koichi is seized by stomach pains and flees. Distraught, Yukako returns and demands a fuller upgrade. Aya agrees to reshape her whole body but, likening it to the Cinderella tale, warns she must reapply a special lipstick every thirty minutes. When Koichi recovers and rushes back to return Yukako's forgotten bag, he is captivated by her beauty, and after a series of accidents throws them together, the two share a passionate kiss just as the deadline passes.

Days later, Koichi is puzzled that Yukako never contacted him again. He passes a hideous woman who denies being her, but it is Yukako, whose features are vanishing as punishment for tampering with fate. She storms the salon demanding a fix, and Aya reveals her face is gone for good. Koichi arrives, recognizing Yukako by her personality alone, and Aya, moved, offers a test: choose the true face from several, or be ugly forever. In truth none of the faces are hers, and only realizing that would earn a cure. Yukako instead asks Koichi to choose for her, content with whatever he picks, and when he offers to be blinded so her ugliness would not pain her, Aya is so touched by their devotion that she restores Yukako's features, leaving everyone happy.

Aya Tsuji and her Stand Cinderella debut, offering to reshape Yukako's face and body to win Koichi's love at the cost of a strict thirty-minute upkeep. Yukako's features begin to disappear as retribution for altering fate. The crisis is resolved not by the intended test but by the sincerity of Yukako and Koichi's bond, which persuades Aya to restore her appearance. The episode advances the romance between the two while showcasing a softer, more humane side of Yukako.

The twentieth Diamond is Unbreakable episode, and the ninety-fourth overall, adapts Chapters 348 through 353. Because the anime moves this story ahead of the Yoshikage Kira chapters, Yukako flees from Koichi into the salon rather than being coaxed there by Joseph, and a scene of Kira passing the salon with a St. Gentleman's bag is added. Café Deux Magots is again swapped for Rengatei. The episode leans on Art Nouveau visuals inspired by Alphonse Mucha, laid out by Yasufumi Soejima, which Naokatsu Tsuda credited in his commentary as exceeding expectations.
