Appearance

Though humanoid in outline, Jogo's body was unmistakably that of a cursed spirit, and he carried himself like an old man, short beside Mahito and Hanami, hunched, and leaning on a cane. As Yuji put it, his head took the shape of a mountain, specifically a volcano resembling Mt. Fuji. Pale gray skin gave way to brown at the crown, where the volcanic opening sat, and his face held a single cyclopean eye, black teeth, and a pair of ear-like openings flanking his head. He normally stoppered his ears with large corks that would pop free whenever he lost his temper, at which point flames erupted from his head. His clothing was entirely black, a loose quarter-sleeved shirt with matching pants and shoes, topped by his signature yellow-spotted cape and a white scarf.

Personality

Pride as a cursed spirit defined Jogo above all. Intelligent and unshakable in his convictions, he was willing to die so long as his cause advanced, while remaining perpetually short-tempered, irritable, and deeply arrogant. He held that cursed spirits were the genuine humans fit to inherit the world, viewing people as liars who masked their real nature behind feigned positive emotions; because curses spring from honest negative feeling, he regarded them as the purest form of humanity and the false versions as fit for extermination. This drove him and his partners to ally with Kenjaku, though Jogo's arrogance led him to challenge Satoru Gojo himself and demand the Prison Realm as a prize, ignoring repeated warnings that Gojo could not be beaten. His pride could not abide being called weak, and Gojo's dismissal of him sent him into a complete rage.

Among fellow curses, by contrast, Jogo got along well, treating Dagon and Hanami as dear companions and tolerating Mahito's happy-go-lucky intrusions on his quiet smoking time. He and Mahito agreed Sukuna was valuable enough to revive even if it cost them their lives, a thought that made Jogo smile, content to be absent so long as curses triumphed in the end. In Shibuya he nursed a grudge against Gojo, tormenting him and slaughtering humans as collateral until Gojo turned aggressive, exorcised Hanami, and forced him to flee in fear and frustration. When Dagon perished, Jogo mourned him even while surrounded by sorcerers, promising to meet again in the wastelands a century later before avenging him by burning Naobito, Nanami, and Maki. He ultimately fed Yuji every finger he held, fought Sukuna hoping to recruit him, and, badly outclassed, finally accepted the King of Curses' words; Sukuna's acknowledgment of his strength moved him to tears for the first time in his life. In his final moments he pictured Dagon and Hanami, apologized for their shared fate, and entrusted their hopes to Mahito.

Abilities

Among the cluster of unregistered special grades that emerged around 2018, Jogo was a curse rooted in humanity's collective terror of the planet, volcanoes and fire-based disasters in particular, producing a highly intelligent spirit whose cursed energy reserves ran vast even for his rank. Kenjaku generously pegged his strength at the equivalent of eight or nine Sukuna fingers, and while he was no match for overwhelming forces like Gojo or a sixteen-finger Sukuna, he far surpassed the most gifted grade 1 sorcerers and rival special grades. Merely activating his technique caused non-sorcerers nearby to combust, and sorcerers caught in his domain met the same fate. In Shibuya he proved leaps beyond the fully realized Dagon, cutting down Nanami, then Maki, then Naobito in quick succession through superior speed and power, charring Nanami, scarring the Heavenly Restriction-hardened Maki, and fatally wounding Naobito within seconds. Even Sukuna conceded that the curse's maximum technique could have wounded him had it landed, and ranked Jogo among the stronger foes of his thousand years, while Kenjaku regretted not absorbing him to claim his technique.

His physical gifts matched his firepower: blinding speed let him blitz past several grade 1 sorcerers unnoticed and outmaneuver even Naobito, and his durability allowed him to weather multiple cursed techniques from Gojo, including Cursed Technique Reversal: Red, and to endure a prolonged fight with Sukuna while recovering from each strike. His cursed energy capacity was extraordinary, again rated at roughly eight or nine Sukuna fingers, and sensed as special grade through his presence alone. His innate technique, Disaster Flames, produced highly concentrated cursed fire, letting him fire heat rays from each palm or open small volcanic vents in the surroundings that erupted with beams. Ember Insects summoned small flying insect-curses from his head whose stingers detonated in fiery blasts, while his maximum technique, Maximum: Meteor, hurled a gigantic flaming meteor capable of devastating a wide swath of Shibuya. He could deploy Domain Amplification, refraining at one point to free up capacity for neutralizing Gojo's Limitless, and his Domain Expansion, Coffin of the Iron Mountain, recreated a volcano's interior that he manipulated at will, its molten stone serving as the deadly guaranteed-hit attack.
