The twenty-first segment of the Shibuya Incident corners Yuji as Choso empties his entire blood arsenal in pursuit of revenge, dragging the young sorcerer toward defeat until a long-silent ally speaks up again over the comms.
Although Yuji reaches Shibuya Station, the Death Painting proves a punishing match for the Jujutsu High student. Pulling out every technique he owns to avenge his younger brothers, Choso steadily drives Yuji toward defeat. Right as the boy understands how dangerous this foe is, an old comrade's voice cuts in over the device to lend support.
Deep in the clash, Choso turns to Blood Manipulation to govern the blood beyond his body and tightens it through Convergence. His Piercing Blood beam travels too quickly for Yuji, who pegs his odds of evading at roughly half. To dictate when the shot comes, Yuji springs off the floor, baiting Choso into firing once more toward his head just before he lands. The instant his feet make contact, Yuji slams his upper body low and ducks under the beam with blinding speed, then sprints in to shrink the distance. Choso curves the beam downward, but the technique slows after its opening burst, so Yuji slips past and engages up close.
Hoping for a fistfight, Yuji finds condensed blood orbs still drifting around him, and Choso triggers Supernova, blasting them outward like buckshot and mangling his back. A follow-up Blood Edge spears Yuji's foot with a blade of blood, yet he retaliates and kicks Choso off using that very wounded foot. Vaulting around the guard, Yuji lands a heavy axe kick, then realizes no orbs remain and concentrates on preventing more. Choso fakes the Piercing Blood stance, freezing Yuji's advance, then layers on Flowing Red Scale and hammers him with successive strikes, smashing him into a wall before unleashing Convergence and Piercing Blood yet again.
Yuji survives the finishing attempt, and Choso concedes he rushed it, the blood too loosely packed to bore fully through Yuji's gut. Severely hurt, Yuji recognizes the Death Painting simply outclasses him. As that gulf in power grows impossible to ignore, Kokichi Muta, called Mechamaru, abruptly resumes talking through the communication device, jolting the wounded student and asking what the situation is. The chapter sits within the Shibuya Incident Arc and was adapted as Episode 37.
