The 40th chapter of Jujutsu Kaisen. Maki proves far stronger than Mai had ever claimed, stunning Kasumi, while Momo tries to lecture Nobara on the unfair burdens women sorcerers shoulder, and observers in the viewing room debate Maki's overlooked rank.
Far surpassing anything Mai had ever described, Maki's skill catches Kasumi entirely flat-footed. In a parallel beat, Momo decides to school Nobara on the reasons female sorcerers such as Mai are saddled with hardships they never deserved.
A flashback finds Kasumi asking Mai about her sister while the two prepared for the Goodwill Event. Predictably, Mai branded Maki worthless and certain to stay a grade 4 for life. That assessment had left Kasumi relieved at the thought of facing her, yet the present rapidly overturns it: she now reads Maki as terrifyingly strong. Even in tight, cramped quarters Maki handles her polearm with finesse, and Kasumi understands she could already have died twice over had her opponent truly meant to kill, judging that a grade 2 curse would fall to Maki without trouble. Kasumi triggers New Shadow Style: Simple Domain, an iai draw that cuts down anything entering a two-meter radius, but Maki coolly snaps her own cursed tool, hurls it to void the domain, slips in close, and strips the sword from her hands.
Watching the duel through her crow from the viewing room is the grade 1 sorcerer Mei Mei. Beside her sit Utahime, the two principals, and Gojo. The view that the Zenin family ought to simply let Maki rise in rank is one Mei Mei and Gojo both share, though Mei Mei concedes she cannot make sense of any bond not rooted in money. The patchy video feed makes Gojo suspicious, yet he stays confident Yuji can handle himself.
A talisman on the wall flares red, marking a Tokyo student's exorcism, the handiwork of Panda, and Gojo observes that every student seems boxed into one-on-one duels. Nobara keeps after Momo, who rides her broom, mocks the first-year, and pounds her with wind charged by cursed energy plus broom strikes she steers by thought. Momo then launches into her sermon about how life weighs harder on women sorcerers, insisting Mai has met discrimination beyond what Nobara can grasp. Nobara fires back that the only thing she grasps is how thoroughly annoying Momo is. Introducing Mei Mei and set at Tokyo Jujutsu High, this chapter ends Maki Zenin vs. Kasumi Miwa and opens Nobara Kugisaki vs. Momo Nishimiya, adapting into Episode 17.

The transformation everyone knows, the follow-up question nobody would touch. Why we made a smooth R&B track about the golden glow Dragon Ball never talks about....

Five Bleach female characters, ranked and settled. Yoruichi sits at number five, the spot nobody expects, and our number one is an Arrancar with a soft heart....
