Class 1-B's answer to the range problem, Hiryu Rin armors himself in reptilian scales and fires them off like ammunition when a target drifts too far to punch. Born in China, raised in Japan from elementary school onward, he holds a Pro Hero license in the era eight years past the Final War.
The braid is the tell. Hiryu keeps his black hair, roughly shoulder length, gathered into a low queue, and his lightly tanned face carries reptile-shaped eyes whose irises are strikingly tiny.
His original hero costume borrows from jiangshi imagery: a high-collared black bodysuit threaded with thin yellow clouds, loosening as it runs downward, tucked into white knee-high boots strapped in yellow at the back. A red sash circles his waist with brown pouches hanging at the sides, large yellow gauntlets cover his forearms over cloud-patterned black sleeves, and the visor across his brow sits exactly where a talisman would be pasted. Eight years later the silhouette is nearly identical, with blue displacing black as the dominant color and the talisman gone from the visor.
Cooperation comes naturally to him. Faced with the wreckage blocking the obstacle course, his instinct was to pool everyone's Quirks and clear it collectively rather than muscle through alone. That easy manner disappears once he actually starts using his power, where his demeanor turns severe. He is diligent about his studies and equally diligent about understanding how his Quirk works, and official material files his personality under calm and composed.

Naruto vs Luffy with the twist nobody asked for: Luffy tickled Hinata on date night, and she kind of liked it. We break down the whole fight and commit to a winner....

There are no women on Namek. That isn't an oversight, it's the biology. Why we handed Piccolo the one thing his own species rules out, and why it had to be trap soul....
Scales grows tough reptilian plating out of his skin, functioning as armor when he wants cover and as ammunition when he does not, since he can launch the scales with real force and speed. Sufficient power still punches through the armor.
The versatility is the point: Hiryu moves between hand-to-hand exchanges and ranged volleys depending on distance, and if a target is out of reach he simply shoots. During the Joint Training Battle his accuracy proved excellent, picking off one of Denki Kaminari's small pointers stuck to Jurota Shishida from a fair distance without harming Jurota. His reflexes are sharp too, as he detected a camouflaged Tsuyu Asui and sheathed himself in scales before her strike landed, though her leg strength and his armor's limits sent him flying into Jurota, who was already being handled by Hitoshi Shinso, and cost his team the round.
He thinks ahead as well as he shoots. The obstacle course plan was his, and during the Joint Training Battle's opening round he worked out that the other side was tracking his team, missing only the mechanism until he spotted a pointer on Jurota. His named moves run through his Scale Gauntlets, which store the scales his arms produce and fire them like a Gatling gun: Leafy Scales is the volley, Scales of Wrath turns the plating outward so the sharp edges face the enemy, and Inner Carapace activates the Quirk across his whole body for full armor. Growing scales costs him calcium and collagen, which he tops up with supplements he carries into fights, and winter is miserable for him because the Quirk makes staying warm difficult.
Hiryu Rin's Quirk is Scales, which grows tough reptilian plating from his skin. He uses the scales as armor for defense or launches them like ammunition at enemies out of melee range.
Hiryu Rin is a hero. He trained in Class 1-B at U.A. High School and holds a Pro Hero license by the era eight years after the Final War.
Hiryu Rin was born in China and raised in Japan from elementary school onward, giving him ties to both countries.
Hiryu Rin fights using his Scale Gauntlets, which store and fire his scales like a Gatling gun. His named moves include Leafy Scales for a ranged volley, Scales of Wrath for outward-facing plating, and Inner Carapace for full-body armor.
Growing scales costs Hiryu Rin calcium and collagen, so he carries supplements into fights to keep up with the drain. The Quirk also makes staying warm difficult, so winter weather is especially hard on him.
