A Sky with No Rain Left

The Buster Union opens fire on a giant toad shaped villain called Garvey and learns the hard way what he does with power: he swallows it. The warts along his back swell and crackle, his body detonates, and the entire squad goes down in one blast. Across the city, Eraser Head and his partner are ferrying delighted preschoolers around on a Cloud, arguing amiably about whether Shota would be good with children, when the rain arrives and Midnight calls in a panic. Garvey's Quirk, Stock, stores incoming attacks and redirects them by detaching those growths, which explains why the Buster Union's own firepower is now aimed at everyone else.

His Purple Highness reaches the group first and takes a wart fired blast of Hizashi's Voice, then a barrage of Sensoji's Blast, and goes down hard. Falling rubble buries Loud Cloud, whose goggles land in the street. With both of them out, the last one standing is a student who has spent the whole series being told to stop shrinking. Garvey's attacks are one hit knockouts and even the misses shred the city, so Shota stops trying to delay the warts and starts steering them: erase, kick skyward, let them fire where nothing breaks. From the speaker in Oboro's fallen gourd, his friend keeps shouting that he can do this. Shota rides that voice through a size disadvantage he cannot solve, lassoes chunks of broken street into Garvey's face, and finally stuffs a bundle of erased warts down the creature's throat, where the stored attacks go off at once.

Emergency services arrive. The children are fine, the pros have minor injuries, His Purple Highness is rushed to hospital. Asking after Loud Cloud, Shota is met with silence, with Nemuri's back turned and shaking. Sensoji picks up the gourd and states flatly that the speaker is broken and always was; with survival on the line, people manufacture whatever encouragement gets them through. Shota refuses it until he sees the tarp, and the blood spreading out from under it.

Time moves. In his third year Shota coasts, sleeps in class, and tells his teachers he will open a solo agency built around underground villain work. His homeroom teacher asks whether he came to U.A. to be a bounty hunter, and gets a boy who will not be argued with. At graduation he erases Hizashi's voice mid sentence and walks out alone, beginning years of training, working and resting by himself.

In the present the rain clears over Naruhata. Eraser Head and The Crawler visit Hoppers, where Ikajiro Takobe now lives with the Hotta brothers and Kirihito Kamachi, all of them planning a cafe on the ruins of the old warehouse. Ikajiro adopts the stray kitten on the spot, Kirihito upgrades the pitch to a cat cafe, and Shota remembers a rooftop where three boys listed what their agency would have, and his one request was a cat tower. He looks at the clear sky, tells them the plan is a good one, promises to visit the cat, and smiles.

Garvey wipes out the Buster Union and cripples His Purple Highness by absorbing and redirecting hero attacks through his Stock Quirk. Loud Cloud is buried while shielding a preschool class.

Left alone, Eraser Head defeats Garvey single handedly by erasing the detached warts, steering their fire away from civilians and detonating a bundle of them inside the villain's mouth.

Oboro Shirakumo dies in the attack; the voice that encouraged Shota throughout the fight came from a broken speaker and was his own invention. Shota subsequently rejects the agency plan, declares for solo underground work, and graduates alone.

Episode twenty-one of the Vigilantes anime and the eighth of season two, adapting Chapters 63 and 64 plus the opening pages of Chapter 65 in the School Days arc. It aired February 23, 2026. The installment drops its opening entirely and uses a unique ending that recaps the arc as a slideshow, closing on Miss you.

Notable changes include Bukkomi being explicitly voiced as the Buster Union's captain, the squad approaching Garvey from the side rather than above, an added shot of Garvey exploding after absorbing their fire, and far more destructive redirected attacks, some of which cut buildings in half. The fight itself is greatly extended.

Shota's mourning flashbacks are drawn from Chapters 254 and 255 of the main series rather than from Vigilantes. Several third year scenes are cut, including another clash with Sensoji and a gym request to the faculty. Graduation puts the students in uniforms instead of costumes, with Shota wearing only his goggles. Because this stretch of story now runs ahead of Sky Egg on television, Eraser Head no longer tells the group to leave him out of their plans, removing the hint that he was headed for a teaching post at U.A.
