Chapter 5 (Team-Up Missions)

Shoto and Denki set out for another assignment under the Team-Up Missions banner, Denki noting aloud that the two of them have never been paired before and wondering who else is coming. The answer arrives shouting Shoto's name: Inasa Yoarashi, with Seiji Shishikura in tow. A joint outing between U.A. and Shiketsu thrills Inasa, and Seiji supplies the detail that their requester is Gantetsu, the Obstinate Hero, a professional known for being rigid to the point of immovable. Inasa stays thrilled.

Inside the agency, the man's sheer unbending presence lands on all four. Their introductions get cut off by an instruction that they will do as they are told, and the task turns out to be soba noodles. Denki opens his mouth to question it; Seiji heads him off, explaining that Gantetsu speaks little but loads his actions with buried significance, so an errand this unheroic has to be a test of something.

They are terrible at it. Inasa drowns his dough and gets shoved aside for it. Seiji kneads with Meatball, which disgusts Denki and earns a compliment, and the praise sends Seiji into a lecture that leaves Denki more lost than before. Inasa somehow produces udon and takes a second scolding. Shoto presents his own attempt and is told flatly that it is badly made. Gantetsu gives up and sends them home, until Inasa bows low and pleads for one more try. One is granted. Shoto thanks him, Inasa answers that they will show the man some passionate teamwork, and the four sit down to plan. Their conclusion is to approach it the way Heroes would.

They return in costume with a flawless mass of soba. The texture has improved beyond recognition, and Gantetsu wants to know how, the answer being coordination and Quirks applied properly. He passes them.

The celebration breaks when a stranger walks in pressing Gantetsu to surrender his shop. The refusal is old news between them. Seiji catches the odd word, shop, while the visitor loses patience and sics two villains on the old man. Gantetsu tells the students to stay out of it; they ignore him, and settle the fight indoors with their Quirks without breaking anything.

Inasa reflects that his wind handles better now, Shoto that his flames answer him more precisely, and Denki credits the noodles. Seiji declares he knew the task was never really about soba. Gantetsu, meanwhile, is staring at them asking whether they are Hero students, which makes no sense to anyone until the truth surfaces. This is not his Hero Office. It is a restaurant he owns as a soba craftsman, and his agency sits in the next town over. He thanks them anyway, and the standing invitation is that they may drop in for a meal any time they please. They set off for the correct address, where a genuinely furious Gantetsu is waiting to shout at them.

Later, at home, Endeavor approaches Shoto having heard from Fuyumi about the soba and asks whether any came back with him. Shoto says no without elaborating.

Denki and Shoto team with Shiketsu's Inasa and Seiji for the first time. Gantetsu debuts and sets the group a soba making task, which they eventually pass through coordinated Quirk use before defending his business from two villains. The students then discover they had reported to the wrong location the entire time.

Running twenty-nine pages, this is the fifth chapter of the Team-Up Missions spin-off, with Yoco Akiyama credited for both script and art in place of Kohei Horikoshi. It reached print on June 4, 2020 in that July's issue and was collected in Volume 2. Seiji, Inasa, Shoto and Denki share the cover. Gantetsu makes his first appearance here.
