Shippuden's four hundred fifteenth episode marks Obito's turn against Madara. Refusing to surrender his body to Black Zetsu, Obito reclaims his will and drives his hand into the ancestor he once served, choosing to save Naruto instead.
With its true master close at hand, Black Zetsu boasts that nothing will keep it from delivering the left Rinnegan and the Nine-Tails' Yin half to Madara, and it peels away from Obito's body. Kakashi and Gaara ready an assault meant to buy Naruto a chance to endure the extraction of his tailed beast, yet Black Zetsu finds itself pinned in place because Obito refuses to release it. When Obito demands to know what he is to Madara, the old Uchiha answers that as a believer in his ideals Obito is effectively himself, one who would undo the world the Sage of the Six Paths made and remake it through the Eye of the Moon Plan and its Infinite Tsukuyomi.
Obito appears to bend to those words and steps toward his forebear. Minato lunges with a Rasengan while Kakashi and Gaara try to intercept Obito, but Madara brushes all of them aside with ease. Rather than clasp Madara's offered hand, Obito rams it through his gut, declaring that the person he is now is the same one who once dreamed of becoming Hokage, Naruto's words fresh in his mind. He then draws out fragments of the One-Tail's and Eight-Tails' chakra and orders Kakashi to send Naruto and Sakura to the other dimension. Madara blocks Obito from following, and Kakashi hurries to his old teammate's side, where Obito remarks that Kakashi has always looked down on him and recalls their days together in Konoha.
Black Zetsu separates from Obito to carry the left Rinnegan and Nine-Tails' Yin half to Madara but cannot leave because Obito wills it to stay. Obito rejects Madara and stabs him, reclaiming his old ambition to be Hokage. He extracts pieces of the One-Tail's and Eight-Tails' chakra and directs Kakashi to teleport Naruto and Sakura into Kamui's dimension to survive the extraction.

Naruto vs Luffy with the twist nobody asked for: Luffy tickled Hinata on date night, and she kind of liked it. We break down the whole fight and commit to a winner....

Naruto built the transformation jutsu himself, and the Hidden Leaf has been quietly not talking about it ever since. The story behind our 90s R&B record about the Naruko question everybody dodges....
The episode adapts manga chapters 665 and 666 during the Birth of the Ten-Tails' Jinchūriki arc. It plays under the opening Wind and the ending A Promise That Doesn't Need Words. As in the source manga, the spike piercing Obito's left hand is absent for most of the episode and only returns once he crosses into Kamui's dimension.
