Tama Tama no Mi

Unlike a standard Zoan, which lets its bearer slip between a human shape, a full animal, and a hybrid in between, this fruit gives the eater the makeup and properties of a chicken egg. The short form of tamago, the Japanese word for egg, supplies its name, and translations render it as the Egg-Egg Fruit. Tamago consumed it, and an underling of Big Mom later revealed its title.

The defining trait is rebirth through breakage. Rather than shifting forms at will, the user only advances by being struck hard enough that an ordinary person would be wounded or killed, at which point the body splits like a real egg.

When a blow such as a sword slash shatters Tamago's body, a yolk spills free while the ruined shell is left behind, and that yolk soon matures into a stronger build carrying more chicken traits. Strike that stage fatally and the cycle repeats, advancing him to a fully grown chicken, the peak the fruit can reach. Destroying the strongest form simply drops him back to his weakest, and this endless loop can keep the user from dying in battle.

The drawbacks are real. The user cannot transform freely the way other Zoan eaters do, and during the yolk stage he is utterly defenseless and can be killed mid-evolution. The regeneration also fails to restore certain losses, since Tamago never regrew the eye Pedro took from him years earlier. The usual Devil Fruit weaknesses apply on top of that.

In Tamago's hands the power gives him the look and substance of an egg and the title Baron Tamago, his first and main stage, where an eggshell rings his waist, he carries a cane sword, kicks with rapid precision, and laces his speech with French. Crack him open and he climbs to Viscount Hiyoko, his skin yellowing as he gains a beak, small wings, and a pair of knives, moving with greater speed and ending his sentences with a chirped peep.

Defeating Hiyoko pushes him to Count Niwatori, an oversized white rooster complete with full wings, red wattle and comb, and his trademark mustache. Billed as a true knight, it proved remarkably durable, walking away apparently unharmed after Pedro engulfed it in a point-blank explosion, and it punctuates its words with a clucked call.
