Ange

Ange is a stocky female giant who stands a touch taller than Gerd. Freckles dot her face, which features an upturned nose and a broad chin, and her dark hair is worked into several braids. For clothing she favors a frilly shirt topped by a hooded cloak, paired with a short skirt made of fur. Thick spectacles sit on her face, and a chupalla rests atop her head.

Courtesy and learning set Ange apart from most of her kind. She serves Saul faithfully, even indulging his stranger impulses, and she backed King Harald's reforms, grieving when he died. Her conviction that the Walrus School and Owl Library mattered above all else on Elbaph drove a desperate plea to the God's Knights. Above all she loves the island's children: she reluctantly agreed to torch both buildings to spare them, served as a parental figure to the orphan Johanna, and snatched the girl from a fatal fall despite her own grievous wounds. Even hurt, she charged a far stronger foe to stop the children from being taken.

When Saul staged a collapse at the Warrior's Spring ahead of the Straw Hats' arrival, Ange supported the ruse by steering the giant children away and calling for help. After Saul and Robin shared a tearful reunion, she introduced herself, offered the crew a tour of the Walrus School, and later explained who King Harald had been. During lessons she dismissed the children's sighting of a strange bird, and she praised their fear drawings without realizing those images would soon manifest as monsters that assaulted the school. She warned Kiba that such creatures were ravaging all of Elbaph.

The God's Knight Rimoshifu Killingham then overran the school, dropping Ange with a sleep ability and knocking Kiba out. Forced to read aloud the names of captured children, she broke down on learning the giants were being made to raze the school and library or lose the hostages, and her protest was dismissed. Moved by Ronja's selfless speech, Jarul ordered the buildings burned, and Ange tearfully set the school alight while Killingham torched the library himself. She later raced to the Western Village, throwing herself around Johanna as the hostage children were marched off the Sun World's edge; Loki and Luffy caught those who fell. When Sommers pursued them and Killingham unleashed the water-wielding Zaza MMA, Ange and the other guardians stood against the threat despite their injuries.
