Fuga

Fuga ranks among the gigantic Numbers, looming above ordinary giants at a scale closer to the ancient breed, though seated he looks smaller than his comrades Inbi and Zanki. His head is triangular, ending in a wide squared jaw whose lower teeth jut forward, and he has barely any neck at all. A set of upward-curving horns crowns him, running longer than those of the other Numbers, while his mouth bristles with sharp teeth and two sets of oversized fangs above and below. Thick, lengthy pale hair tumbles down, and he leaves his torso bare. The daiji character for two is inked onto his left shoulder. What truly separates him from the rest is his lower half, the body of a horse below the waist, a shape he gained from swallowing one of the crew's SMILE fruits.

A stubborn streak defines Fuga. The moment he spotted Apoo trailing Yamato, he resolved to give chase himself, wrecking plenty around him along the way. Toward Yamato, though, he shows no aggression, behaving instead like a friendly and willing companion. In keeping with the other Numbers, his laughter twists his own name into the sound "Fugagagagaga."

As a man-made giant, Fuga carries tremendous strength and can smash straight through a thick stone barrier, and he keeps a kanabo club that he has not yet been seen swinging. His origins trace to Punk Hazard, where scientists tried and failed to artificially reproduce the ancient giants. Kaidou later purchased the rejected subjects and relocated them to Onigashima, where the group earned the title of Numbers. Hunger once drove Fuga to swipe and devour a SMILE from Kaidou's quarters; the enraged Kaidou jailed him, and his fellow Numbers jeered at the horse legs the fruit produced. Yamato took the opposite view, praising the legs as impressive, and the two grew close. Five days ahead of the Fire Festival, the Numbers reached Hakumai through Mogura Harbor and traveled to Onigashima alongside Apoo. While the war between the Beasts Pirates and the alliance raged, Fuga sat out the fighting, feasting in a Skull Dome chamber with Inbi and Zanki until Apoo and X Drake joined them. Their conversation broke off when Yamato appeared, and seeing Apoo try to speak with him, Fuga smashed through the wall to pursue. As Kazenbo crept downward, he felt Robin and Brook drop into his hair yet pressed on after Yamato, who had asked for his aid. The pair descended to the armory, where Rokki guarded the gate in his sleep; on Yamato's command, Fuga rammed him, shattered the gate, and pinned Rokki down so Yamato could push deeper inside. He remains the sole Number to consume a SMILE, and the only Beasts Pirate outside the Gifter and Shinuchi ranks to wield SMILE-based power.
