Goldberg

Goldberg is an extremely heavyset giant whose dark orange hair sits above a broad mouth. His outfit leaves his chest bare except for a belt strapped across it, and he wears green plaid suspenders streaked with dark lines, plus a grey cape fastened by a flower-shaped buckle, and a viking helmet. In his infancy, the anime gave him shorter light brown hair and wrapped him in yellow cloth.

Easygoing about most things, Goldberg tends to shrug off trouble where others bristle. When Road's antics irritated Gerd, he simply laughed and pointed out the navigator's usefulness, showing a level-headed streak. That patience has limits, though: once Road crossed the line and mistreated the Straw Hats, Goldberg chased him down and knocked him out cold. He carries the unique laugh "Degyagyagyagya."

Goldberg was born in an Elbaph village roughly sixty-three years ago, his arrival celebrated as the twelve-day fast before the Winter Solstice began. Forty-eight years back, when Loki rampaged through a village with beasts from the Underworld, Goldberg urged Gerd not to intervene out of fear, only for her to beat him into helping anyway. Twenty-two years ago he joined Hajrudin and Gerd in salvaging books from the lake at Ohara after its destruction and carrying them home to Elbaph, and later sailed with the crew seeking a physician to treat Hajrudin's ailing mother, who died shortly before they made it home.

He eventually joined Hajrudin's bid to bring back the Giant Warrior Pirates, after which the group hired on with Buggy's Delivery, rising to become its five top earners and earning S-Class rank. After Hajrudin pledged the crew to Luffy, they resigned and set sail aboard the Naglfar within the Straw Hat Grand Fleet. During the Elbaph Arc, Goldberg and Gerd intercepted Road after the Straw Hats were taken, with Goldberg hauling the Thousand Sunny as they pursued him up the bridge. He later cooked feasts for the crew, blocked a Groogysaurus with his shield homie Nash while hunting alongside Zoro and Sanji, and looked on in horror as Loki was freed and struck the Adam Tree.

As a giant, Goldberg wields tremendous strength, able to sprint while carrying the Sunny and to help fell Road in a single combined blow. He serves as his crew's cook, instructing Zoro and Sanji on preparing a Groggysaurus, and fights with a towering mace and the durable shield homie Nash. Together with Gerd and Road he can perform the combination strike San Sho: Gokoku, channeling all three giants' power into a compressed air beam.
