Appearance

A sizable man, Poker is most recognizable for the floor-length pale blue hair that spills over his eyes, and for the bull-style horns jutting from his head. His SMILE transformation left him with a forked tongue and a pair of bumps on his chin suggesting a snake's rattle. He keeps his outfit minimal: an open little waistcoat, a belted loincloth, and spiked bands on both wrists, with a bandaged X-shaped tattoo on his upper right arm. Both legs have turned into the ends of a rattlesnake, the head and the rattle, while the snake's midsection loops up over his shoulders and head.

Personality

Poker is deeply invested in his standing within the Beasts Pirates, eager to guard his reputation by shutting down enemies and dreaming of climbing into the Tobiroppo by beating someone formidable. That changes once Tama's Devil Fruit brings him under her sway, after which he fights faithfully for her and the alliance, even pitching in to help Jinbe by taking on Who's-Who's men.

Abilities

His Shinuchi rank places him above the rank-and-file of the crew. He owes his powers to a Rattlesnake SMILE, which converted his body into snake parts: his left leg forms the serpent's front with its own sentient head, his right leg becomes the tail and rattle, and the body arcs from one shoulder to the other over his head. In a fight he can bite enemies using the snake head on his left leg, and the anime showed him absorbing a punch from Eustass Kid without folding.

Four years before the raid, Poker was posted on Onigashima when Portgas D. Ace attacked, and he looked on in dismay with Babanuki, Briscola, and the Nokokuwa Police as Yamato shattered the statue of Kaidou's dragon. During the Fire Festival assault, he and Mizerka guarded the third level at the foot of the stairs; Kid slipped past them, and word arrived that Luffy's group was inbound, which thrilled Poker, who hoped to fight Luffy and earn his promotion. Luffy never came, having taken a ladder built elsewhere. Later Daifugo forced him to swallow one of Tama's kibi dango, and once tamed he turned on his own comrades near the Jinbe-versus-Who's-Who clash so Jinbe could concentrate on his opponent.
