Wanze

Bladed roller skates and a frozen grin define Wanze at a glance. That smile holds steady whether terror or rage grips him, sitting above buck teeth on a face whose cheeks carry spiral markings and whose eyes appear to stretch outward along with the surrounding skin and lids; the hair on top is white and puffed out. Worn open across a bare torso is a dark shirt, paired with trousers, while orange dyes the belt and a yellow length of fabric loops around his neck as a scarf. The rear of his jacket spells out MAD, and on both forearms he bears a tattoo of the kanji for fist. Covering everything is a white cook's coat stamped with the World Government crest on its back, which he discards the moment combat starts.

Sanji's Parage Shot once kneaded his features into those of a stock handsome youth, an outcome Wanze found revolting rather than flattering. A follow-up kick to the body undoes the change and restores his original face.

Brash, irritating, and given to acting on impulse, Wanze performs the fool deliberately so rivals will dismiss him before he strikes. Real pride backs his command of Ramen Kenpo, and he crows that CP9 picked him to keep intruders off the train. Behind the routine he is dull-witted and short of temper, and the mere sight of a spiral, Sanji's curled eyebrow included, sets his head spinning. His unbudging foolish grin, holding firm even as he protests that he is frightened, predictably enrages whoever stands across from him, although he did boil over for real once Sanji warped his face into a handsome cast and he declared himself disfigured. Loyalty toward both the World Government and its Cipher Pol agency makes him a partisan of Absolute Justice with knee-jerk scorn for any lawbreaker who menaces them, and he thinks nothing of badmouthing Nico Robin over her reputation, much to Sanji's anger. He owns a Laughter Style that opens on Sa, and excitement pulls the verbal tic Go-go-go! out of him.

CP7 fields Wanze as its melee specialist, extra protection for CP9's voyage back to Enies Lobby, and his analytical streak let him work out, within minutes of fighting, that immobilizing Sanji's legs robs the cook of his strength. His art, Ramen Kenpo, springs from a strange culinary process: he eats flour, kneads the dough inside his mouth, slices it into strands with fishnet-shaped nose hairs, then draws the noodles out through his nose, weaponizing them by blasting strands from his nostrils at high velocity and packing them into a wearable suit. Alongside the noodles he turns to assorted blades, with skates whose circular cutting wheels throw sparks of friction-born fire to boost his kicks, plus thrown kitchen knives and a sizable poison-soaked blade.

Corgi mentions Wanze first, naming him the head waiter who holds the Sea Train's fourth car for its run between Water 7 and Enies Lobby. A Marine tries to warn him of trouble onboard, only for Wanze to snap that he is busy with troubles of his own. When Sanji, Sogeking, and Franky force their way into his car mid-raid, Wanze glides across the kitchen pushing a food trolley and immediately presents his special ramen, showing off its stomach-turning preparation, then refuses to let the trio past without going through him. He dodges Sanji's kick, lets Sogeking and Franky slip ahead, and laughs since Nero of CP9 waits one car over. Lighting his skates, he trades kicks and insults with Sanji, eats roughly a dozen of the cook's blows, and assembles a battle suit of ramen while gloating, which disgusts Sanji over the squandered food.

The noodle suit briefly pins Sanji in ramen fists, and Wanze halts a counterattack with Ramen Beam, claiming to have decoded the cook's style. Because Wanze made his weapon out of food, Sanji pulls two knives and shreds the incoming noodle waves, then carves off the suit's arms and legs. Not wanting to wound Wanze with steel, Sanji sheathes the blades, whereupon Wanze grabs and throws them; Sanji slips the throw and lands several kicks to his face. Wanze questions the rescue of Nico Robin, which only deepens Sanji's fury into the Parage Shoot that remolds his face. Charging him with the crimes of posing as a chef, of squandering food, and of insulting a friend, Sanji watches Wanze draw a poison-coated knife and rush forward, then drives a string of kicks across his torso that hurl him into the fifth car among the CP9 agents, leaving him sprawled unconscious in the aisle. In the non-canon film One Piece Film: Gold, Wanze surfaces on a Gran Tesoro ferris wheel mid-proposal to a woman, panicking and tossing his flowers into her face when Luffy's turtle car shoots past.
