Yasopp

The family resemblance to Usopp is obvious, yet a few traits separate them: Yasopp's nose is the shorter of the two and his hair runs blond, while his son took a longer nose and darker coloring from Banchina. Two decades earlier his own hair was black and tightly coiled much like Usopp's, and over time it has passed through loose waves into dreadlocks, his once-lean build thickening into something stronger.

During his Foosha Village stretch his outfit ran to a shirt of dark blue, calf-length trousers in dark green, blue shoes fastened with buckles, and a headband that spelled out his name. Come the Marineford war the headband had vanished, his name relettered onto his upper right arm, and his wardrobe had shifted to a dark sleeveless top, short trousers, boots, a belt strung with a bag, and a small necklace. Across both looks he holds onto the cape patterned with stars that has become his trademark, his rifle slung over his back.

So much of Usopp clearly traces back to his father, including the gift for sweeping crewmates up into whatever good time he is having. Yasopp doted on the boy to a fault, telling Luffy story after story until the young pirate could pick Usopp out on sight from the tales alone, and he warmed to Luffy precisely because the child shared an age with the son he had abandoned at home.

He will not, however, stomach any slight against his captain or crew. After Bartolomeo burned the Red Hair Pirates' flag and raised Luffy's mark over it, Yasopp blew the Going Luffy-senpai apart with a single round, even though Shanks had seemed content to let the offenders sail off. His marriage to Banchina was a happy one, and it was she who pushed him to chase his dream at sea. He now carries enough unease about facing his grown son that he admits he is not yet ready for the meeting.

Holding senior-officer rank gives Yasopp command over the crew's lower ranks and marks him as a serious fighter, notorious enough that the Marines and World Government track him closely. His shooting is the stuff of legend: he is said to never miss, once boasting he could shear the antenna from an ant a hundred feet off without nicking the insect, a claim Luffy confirmed by admitting he had never seen the man whiff. His reputation was already so large that Shanks personally came to Gecko Island to recruit him two years after Roger's execution, and in a filler episode he outgunned the celebrated Marine sniper Daddy Masterson with ease.

He also commands Observation Haki, sensing that the Kid Pirates had fully healed after Onigashima, and in the non-canon Film: Red he stretched the sense far enough to link minds with Usopp across separate worlds. As a gunman he began with a flintlock pistol and later carried a musket whose explosive rounds could tear an entire ship apart. Over the years he helped pull the young Uta from a looted chest, raided a CP9 vessel for the Gomu Gomu no Mi, stood with the crew at Marineford to halt the war, and pressed on into Elbaph as the Final Saga unfolded.
