Summary

Sailing toward their next destination, the Straw Hats turn over Luffy's dream, a goal he can only reach by taking the Pirate King's title. Getting there means tracking down the final Road Poneglyph, yet Robin warns that the hunt is brutal because nothing at all points the way to it. At the same moment, far off at the Kamabakka Kingdom, the Marines' communications branch catches Sabo speaking by snail to the Revolutionary Army. Over at Mary Geoise, the Five Elders fix his whereabouts to Lulusia, a realm caught up in the uprising of eight nations that ignited once the Levely concluded.

Key Events

Sabo swears to his comrades that he never killed King Cobra, but the instant he starts recounting what he witnessed at the Empty Throne within Pangaea Castle, an Elder commands the Marines to cut the line and erase any memory of the call. Imu strikes Lulusia off a map. The sky over the kingdom blackens and flares green before red beams pour down, wiping out everything they touch and obliterating the island within seconds, leaving a colossal seaquake in its place. Days afterward, the crew drifts into a brutal winter zone and meets an enormous Warm Eddy. Luffy and Sanji feel someone trapped in the water column, Zoro cuts it open, and Luffy ends up snatching both Chopper and a shrieking girl from the gale, just as Usopp catches the glowing eyes of a giant shark closing on the Sunny.

Notes

The installment introduces UUUUUS! as its opening and Dear sunrise as its ending, and a recurring educational corner, Tell Me, Robin!, premieres at the close. The anime broadens Lulusia's destruction with added shots of fleeing citizens and the energy sphere that swallows the island. It is also Toru Furuya's last turn voicing Sabo, and from here the English dub reverts to the original blue Japanese logo. The entry belongs to the Egghead Arc.
