Brownbeard recounts how the clash between two Admirals tore open a crater that swallowed seawater and its predators, which is why ocean beasts now haunt this lake. The centaurs ready a killing volley, yet their barrels split apart instead, frozen solid by Brook, who scatters the gunmen. Far from drowned, the four pirates resurface alive atop a chunk of ice, having put down the sharks.

Brownbeard suddenly remembers that this is Ace's brother, worth 400 million, and his terrified centaurs scatter, only to be chased so their warm coats can be stolen as Zoro tangles with a knot of them. At the lab's entrance, Law refuses to let the intruders get away. His Devil Fruit yanks four crewmates' consciousnesses loose, Nami, Chopper, Franky, and Sanji, dropping each one, voice and all, into a stranger's frame. He then shears a warship and an iceberg, welding the wreckage into a high wall that pens the Marines in. Tashigi disregards the warning and lunges; her Haki falls short, the blade snaps, and a single stroke halves her. The adaptation lengthens several beats missing from the manga, among them Brownbeard reciting his name and former bounty, the trio striking the centaurs, Law slicing the Marine ship, and the four victims reeling at their swapped bodies and voices. Where the manga had the centaurs sink the boat by cannon, here a sulking Brownbeard does the deed alone.
