Shocking! The True Identity of the Mystery Man Vergo!

Vergo keeps battering the captive Law, who reveals that the man commands the entire G-5 Marine base. A cutaway shows that base's lawless troops bullying an island whose residents beg for help finding their kidnapped children, the very youngsters now in Caesar's facility. The marines refuse, claiming Vergo already ruled the cases dead.

Nami and Usopp struggle with the drug-sick children until Caesar arrives and tempts them back with candy. Zoro's group flees a furious Smiley toward the lab. Inside a cell, the prisoners face Vergo and Monet. Piecing together Tashigi's theory, Smoker accuses Vergo of burying the kidnapping reports. Law confirms Vergo was always a pirate serving the underworld broker Joker, and answering Luffy, he names Joker as the Warlord Donquixote Doflamingo.

Law identifies Vergo as the head of the G-5 base. The island's grieving parents are shown to be the source of Caesar's test subjects, with Vergo having falsified the missing-child records. Caesar bribes the withdrawing children back into the laboratory while his forces seal every entrance, stranding the G-5 marines outside with Smiley. In the holding cell, Smoker realizes Vergo orchestrated the New World cover-ups, and Law exposes him as a longtime pirate working for Joker. The episode closes with Law confirming that Joker is Donquixote Doflamingo.

Drawn from Chapter 673, this episode debuts the character Yarisugi and shows Vergo pummeling Law more often than the print version did. Other tweaks soften or trim manga details: Yarisugi no longer kicks a civilian, and the recollection of him omits the french fry stuck to his cheek. Anime-only additions include Yarisugi buying apples, picturing a cloud shaped like Tashigi, Luffy stirring awake in the cell, and Caesar's men sealing the lab.
