The Rendezvous - Luffy, a One-on-One at His Limit

Counter pummels Luffy without mercy, yet the famished captain keeps rising to swing back. When Counter loads a Haki-clad fist for a finisher, Luffy absorbs it and answers with a punch of his own, though the blow lands too weakly to matter and Counter strikes again. Inside the mirrors, a rattled Brook stuns the team by drawing rubbings of Big Mom's Poneglyphs from his skull, explaining he had to finish the job now since a second attempt would mean open war.

The group shifts to finding Sanji, and Nami guesses he is out in the field where he fought Luffy. Jinbe urges haste, warning that a hidden scheme will throw the wedding into chaos, and recalls how Pekoms was shot by Bege for refusing to take part, only surviving thanks to Jinbe's crew. As the Vinsmokes drink and toast their planned reconquest of the North Blue, Bobbin is gunned down in the shadows. Sanji, searching the battlefield, despairs of finding Luffy until a growling belly leads him to his unconscious captain slumped against Kingbaum's corpse.

Luffy endures Counter's onslaught and manages one defiant strike. Brook reveals he successfully transcribed Big Mom's Poneglyphs, sparing the crew a future war. Jinbe discloses the brewing plot against the wedding and recounts Pekoms being shot by Bege and rescued at sea. Bobbin is shot down by an unseen gunman, Vito, while chasing Sanji. The Vinsmoke men celebrate, noting how Sanji's disgrace serves their ambitions. Sanji at last finds the collapsed Luffy beside Kingbaum.

The anime lengthens both Luffy's duel with Counter and Sanji's hunt across the battlefield, and shows on screen the moment Vito shoots Bobbin. The episode is part of the Whole Cake Island arc.
