I'll Be Back - Luffy, Deadly Departure!

Pedro's huge self-destruction swallows the whole area, toppling Big Mom and snapping the candy that had ensnared Brook, Chopper, and the Thousand Sunny. Distraught, Carrot tries to reach the blast site to see whether Pedro survived, but Nami stops her, insisting he gave his life to buy them this opening. Luffy moves to set off the Coup de Burst, yet Katakuri still stands aboard. As Carrot lunges with Electro, she recalls her training on Zou, where Pedro handed her a paw-shaped gauntlet and told her to stay ready for the moment that would arrive. In the present, Katakuri slips every blow and pins her under his foot, and she weeps over failing his lesson.

Luffy steps up, and once his opening flurry is dodged he drives an enormous fist forward, the Gomu Gomu no Elephant Gun. A wall of mochi halts that giant punch, yet he then spreads his fingers, coils them around the commander, and snares him. While Nami stockpiles cola for the burst, Chopper and Brook scramble to fasten the Shark Submerge III onto the ship, panicking as an unscathed Big Mom closes in. Amande's Tartes loose a volley that misses just as the burst is primed, but Big Mom seizes the stern and tilts the ship, knocking a cola barrel out of the engine. Nami rushes below to reload while Chopper and Brook fend off the next rounds, and Jinbe mans the helm with a tone dial carrying Franky's recorded directions. Brulee surfaces in a mirror to assist Katakuri, prompting Luffy to grab her with his free arm, and a one-armed Perospero emerges from the smoke cursing Pedro for ruining his candy armor.

Gripping Katakuri in one hand and Brulee in the other, Luffy tells the crew that everything else is now theirs to handle and that he will rejoin them later. Following Franky's recording, Jinbe lets the cola build and pulls the lever, blasting Big Mom point-blank and hurling the Sunny over Amande's fleet far into the distance. Aloft, the crew spots neither Luffy nor his foe: he has dragged the pair into the Mirro-World through the ship's reflection, then smashed the glass behind them, swearing to topple the Sweet Commander and come back. The broadcast lengthens both the Pedro flashback Carrot relives and her clash against Katakuri. The installment belongs to the Whole Cake Island Arc and first aired on August 18, 2018.
