Summary

Zoro tells Hiyori that he sides with Momonosuke and reassures her that Kin'emon and the rest are still living. She answers by recounting the day, twenty years past, that turned everything upside down. As Orochi toppled the Kouzuki Family, Toki called on her Devil Fruit to fling five people two decades ahead in time, Momonosuke and Kin'emon together with Kikunojo, Raizo, and Kanjuro. Hiyori was purposely kept behind as a safeguard, so the line would carry on even if Momonosuke never reached that future. Both Oden and Toki perished in the coup, yet Hiyori survived because Kawamatsu spirited her to safety and brought her up through her childhood.

Key Events

The story finished, Zoro briefs her on the operation, reporting that his side has tracked down all of the Nine Red Scabbards save three, and Hiyori names the three still unaccounted for, Kawamatsu, Denjiro, and Ashura Doji. The two then settle in to sleep. Over in Ebisu Town, Law clashes with Shinobu over her charge that the Heart Pirates gave away the plans, and he stalks off enraged. As the others worry about him, the town is stirred up by Bingo, Bongo, and Bungo, three onetime capital crooks who once bribed officials, fell for Komurasaki, were robbed and banished by her, and were welcomed in by Tonoyasu despite their ongoing rudeness toward the locals.

Notes

Back at the mine, Luffy still cannot drop his foes without contact, so Hyougoro explains that Wano possesses a technique for exactly that and proves it by downing Alpacaman from a distance. The broadcast adds Zoro figuring out that Hiyori meant Kiku when she asked after Kikunojo, an imagined glimpse of the grilled fish Kawamatsu once bragged of catching, and Toko declaring she would like to see a kappa once the tale ends. Azuki turns up for the first time in this entry.
