Chapter 1019

With Sasaki's underlings turned against him, nobody stands between Franky and the Tobiroppo officer, so the pair square off one against one. The bout climbs into the air after Sasaki, shifted into his triceratops hybrid body, whirls his bony neck frill like a propeller to gain lift and turn the collar into a weapon. Meanwhile, Sanji dodges the lasers Queen fires from his hair, the Heart Pirates pump the last seawater out of a revived Luffy who screams only for meat, and the Minks drive needles deep through Zoro's heavy bandages to treat him.

Sasaki batters the General Franky with repeated charges, even setting off a shoulder launcher misfire, yet Franky answers with a suplex, a shield, and his V-Flash before the machine is at last torn apart. Refusing to go down, Franky ejects from the wreckage and slams a Radical Beam into Sasaki's gut, leaving the officer unconscious.

Queen shows that he can shoot lasers out of his hair. Zoro stays under the Minks' care, while Luffy wakes aboard the Heart Pirates' submarine bellowing for food. Inside the right brain tower, Sasaki adopts his hybrid shape and demonstrates the spinning-frill trick that grants both flight and a burst of speed; he mauls the General Franky badly enough to force an ejection, but the round ends with him knocked out.

On the rooftop, the bout between Kaidou and Yamato carries on. It comes to light that Yamato bears a Zoan-class Devil Fruit, the Okuchi no Makami, whose hybrid form he now adopts. Kaidou insists the fruit was never meant for Yamato, since claiming it had taken him enormous effort.

Kaidou tells Yamato he would bolster the crew's might, and Yamato fires back that no father ought to address his own child this way. Yamato adds that hunger drove him to eat the fruit, that he can no longer swim though he longed to set sail, and that the explosive cuffs were never the only thing tying him to Wano. To walk away from the country, he declares, would betray the name of Oden. A color spread marking the manga's 24th anniversary opens the chapter, showing the crew relaxing at sea among whale sharks. A promotional crossover poster brought the cast together with Where's Wally? alongside scenes from the Onigashima raid, and this installment ran beside chapter three of Shokugeki no Sanji. This is the 1019th chapter, set within the Wano Country Arc.
