Summary

Deep in Pangaea Castle, Sabo has cut down a run of guards when Bonney turns up in front of him without warning. Since both chase the same goal, she proposes an alliance, and he consents, having already heard that Kuma fathered a girl. Confident the Revolutionary Army can be trusted with her father's body, Bonney looks on as Sabo takes hold of the collar keys that free the slaves and hands them to a soot crow belonging to Karasu, telling him to send word that Morley's group should rush Kuma and the captives to Headquarters. Bonney reveals her plan to head for Egghead, hoping Vegapunk can undo what was done to Kuma's mind. The pair duck out of view as guards draw near, and a stray mention of a place called the Lost Chamber snags Sabo's curiosity.

In a separate chamber, Cobra lays his questions before the Five Elders. He recounts how the World Government took shape eight hundred years ago, when twenty monarchs and their kin fused into the World Nobles, raised an Empty Throne, and set weapons before it as an oath that none would claim absolute rule. His own forebear, Queen Nefertari Lili, alone refused to leave Arabasta, which is why nineteen rather than twenty weapons lie at the throne's base. Following the Void Century, her name vanishes from every account he managed to assemble, so he asks the Elders what became of her and what the concealed initial signifies.

Key Events

Out in the courtyard, Charlos has Kuma bind Shirahoshi in chains and crows over his prize while terrified onlookers flee. Her brothers Fukaboshi, Ryuboshi, and Manboshi race to help, only for Charlos to command Kuma to blast them. Mjosgard permits Sai and Leo to strike the World Noble, reasoning that pirates can escape where royals cannot, and the two crush his head with a joint attack. As the crowd panics over whether he is dead, Morley bursts up from the ground to subdue Kuma, and Karasu arrives with the keys so everyone can descend together. Back in the throne room, Imu steps out of the darkness, settles onto the Empty Throne, and speaks Lili's name, leaving Cobra aghast.

Notes

Set during the Egghead Arc, the chapter recalls the distant past through flashback. The blow Sai and Leo deal Charlos would later be spun by the press into an assassination plot. Cobra reveals that Lili left a letter, kept for generations among the Nefertari, that appears to reference the Will of D. The cover offers a color spread of assorted characters sliding down a water slide.
