Chapter 1099

Saving as many of Bekori's victims as he can reach, Kuma then tears the king's castle to the ground. That night earns its place in history under a single name, the Solo Revolution of Sorbet. Word travels to the Holy Land that the kingdom has a new monarch. Saturn learns that the crown rests on Kuma, but only as a title, for the well-loved former ruler Bulldog handles the actual governing while Kuma keeps to his church, healing the elderly. One day the townspeople are stunned to find a grown Bonney dashing about, having unknowingly eaten the Toshi Toshi no Mi; her shock before a mirror snaps her back to childhood, and Gyogyo pieces together what occurred.

Bulldog comes to warn that Bekori, still propped up by the Government and spreading lies that paint Kuma a tyrant, schemes to seize the throne anew. The people want nothing of Bekori's return, and Kuma resolves to resist even though it will mark him an outlaw. He asks Bulldog to take the crown for real and to shelter Bonney, then bids his daughter farewell with a promise to come back. When Bekori later sails in with a Marine fleet, Kuma sends every vessel to the bottom and sets out as a pirate himself.

Kuma's razing of the castle becomes known as the Solo Revolution, and Bonney's newly surfaced age-shifting ability proves powerless against her Sapphire Scales. Branded a wanted man, Kuma wanders the world, passing through many of the places he will one day scatter the Straw Hats, among them Kuraigana Island, Torino Kingdom, Weatheria, the Boin Archipelago, and Karakuri Island, all the while hunting a cure. At Kuraigana he easily fends off the bounty hunters Abdullah and Jeet.

Crossing paths once more with the Revolutionary Army, Kuma blesses Belo Betty's request to inherit Ginny's former East Army command. Dragon points him toward Vegapunk, whose guard has thinned since leaving Punk Hazard. Kuma carries Bonney to the scientist's lab, the future Egghead, where Vegapunk proposes a stem cell transplant to save her. Learning Kuma is a Buccaneer, the doctor asks him to serve as the model for his clone soldiers as the cost of the operation. Kuma agrees, naming himself a pacifist who longs for peace, and from that word Vegapunk coins "Pacifista." In the Holy Land, Saturn dismisses the scientist as a fool for not making the soldiers deadlier.

The cover request, credited to readers Match and Takeshi, shows tanukis grooming Oden's hair. The chapter clarifies that Kuma rules Sorbet in title alone, with Bulldog managing the kingdom, and that Bonney's awakened fruit does nothing for her illness. Dragon's parting words tell Kuma to drift wherever the winds of fate may take him, and Vegapunk first applies the Pacifista name, drawing it straight from Kuma's own self-description, to clones built to deflect bullets and subdue pirates.
