Chapter 179 of One Piece, Showdown at Alubarna, splits between the Straw Hats steeling themselves aboard the crab Hasami, Luffy refusing to die in Crocodile's quicksand, and every faction converging on the capital for the coming war.
Riding the enormous crab toward the capital, the crew passes the tense hours in their own ways. Usopp spins another tall tale for a horrified Chopper, while Zoro builds strength by balancing Matsuge atop a blade. Sanji snaps at Nami that everyone needs a distraction from the thought of their captain facing a Warlord. When Sanji needles Zoro about being afraid Luffy may have lost, the two nearly come to blows until Nami flattens them both. Vivi reassures the group that Luffy is fine, and Nami christens the crab Hasami, urging it onward to Alubarna.
In Yuba, Toto at last strikes a spot gushing with water and beams, unaware of the storm Crocodile has sent his way.
Crocodile gloats that nothing will go Luffy's way, having driven his hook through the water flask and into the boy. Yet as the leaking water drips onto the Warlord's arm, the half-dead Luffy grabs hold and snaps it, stunning his foe before being hurled deep into the sinking sand. In Rainbase, Smoker sends Tashigi to Alubarna alone to pursue her own justice, then drives off. Across the desert the rebels gallop toward the capital, Koza warning a captured Cobra to watch his kingdom fall. Mr. 4 and Miss Merry Christmas hold the bloodied king elsewhere as he silently begs his people not to destroy themselves.
The chapter confirms Cobra's capture, Toto's discovery of water, and Luffy's survival despite sinking into the pit, his head bursting back out as he hollers about being hungry. The cover shows Karoo soaring on a falcon high above the Going Merry.
Alubarna is the capital city of the Kingdom of Arabasta, and Chapter 179, "Showdown at Alubarna," follows the Straw Hats and rebel forces converging on it as civil war closes in.
In this telling of the story, the kingdom is called Arabasta while its capital city, the site of Chapter 179's climactic showdown, is named Alubarna.
In Chapter 179, "Showdown at Alubarna," the Straw Hats brace for war aboard the crab Hasami, a half dead Luffy refuses to give up inside Crocodile's sinking sand trap, and every faction, from the rebels to the Marines, converges on Alubarna.
In Chapter 179, Crocodile drives his hook through Luffy's water flask and into his body, then buries him in the sinking sand, but Luffy grabs Crocodile's arm and snaps it, stunning the Warlord before being swallowed beneath the sand.
In Chapter 179, Toto finally strikes a spot gushing with water in Yuba, a triumphant moment undercut by his not yet knowing that Crocodile's sandstorm is bearing down on the town.
