Within New Kama Land, Ivankov cautions that mending Luffy will strip ten years from his life and still only push his chances from nothing up to a sliver, with everything resting on the boy's resolve. He administers Emporio: Healing Hormones, and Luffy launches into ten straight hours of screaming. Facing a horrified Mr. 2, Ivankov clarifies that he simply pulled out Luffy's own vitality and reinforced his immune defenses enough to combat Magellan's venom, stressing that he works no miracles, since true miracles arrive only for those willing to seize them. He goes on to outline his Horu Horu no Mi, a power that lets him reshape a body from the inside, tuning temperature, color, sex, growth, and emotion.

Ivankov recounts how the hidden settlement came to be: a man able to bore through walls with his Devil Fruit dug out the secret floor wedged between Levels 5 and 6. He confirms that Level 6 exists, holding the planet's most depraved criminals condemned to be wiped from record, and tells of Shiryu of the Rain, the head jailer once judged a match for Magellan, who landed on Level 6 after butchering inmates for amusement. He lists further Level 6 captives, among them Catarina Devon, Sanjuan Wolf, and Vasco Shot, and adds that Crocodile, Ace, and Jinbe sit there as well. Ace, he notes, faces execution at 1500 hours and ships out to Marineford come morning. As the hours pass and the newkama rally behind Luffy, the screaming halts and blood creeps beneath the door, hinting at death, until Luffy pounds against it bellowing for food, alive after just one day.

Ivankov informs Luffy that the cure, drawn from his Horu Horu no Mi powers, will subtract ten years from his life. Level 5.5, he then reveals, was excavated by a tunneling Devil Fruit user, later named as Morley, a commander of the Revolutionary Army who wields the Oshi Oshi no Mi. He lays out the story of Shiryu of the Rain and the dreaded Level 6 prisoners Catarina Devon, Sanjuan Wolf, and Vasco Shot. Ace is readied for his move to Marineford, and Luffy pulls through the healing far quicker than anyone anticipated.

"Level 5.5 Newkama Land" is the name given to this installment. Belonging to the Straw Hats and Animals cover series, its front page depicts Zoro defending a mother hen and the eggs she guards against a striped wolf, all while sporting a shirt that proclaims his fondness for eggs.
