Chapter 683: An Icy Woman

Sealing Luffy inside a snow hut of ten layers, Monet folds him in her frigid wings to drain his vigor and lull him under. Luffy shakes off the creeping drowsiness and, with a Jet Spear, blasts a hole straight through the flooring, plunging into the basement, where Monet notes that, lacking any way to take flight, he is stranded in the refuse duct far beneath the earth.

At the entrance to the Biscuits Room, Chopper in Monster Point strains to keep the frenzied children back without harming them, and once his Rumble Ball fades he is trampled underfoot. Rescue arrives in the form of several crewmates: Nami and Usopp burst in first, joined by Robin, Zoro, Brook, and Kin'emon. Chopper explains that Caesar means to forge the children into violent brawlers and that Mocha, having regained her senses, is shielding the candy. Robin conjures giant hands to hold the kids off, yet they bite through and break loose. Monet then blocks the exit with a snow wall and sneers at Mocha to stop hoarding the sweets and share them around.

Deep inside the room where SAD is produced, Law fires Shambles to snatch his heart back, but Vergo reclaims it instantly and hammers him to the floor, driving off his hat in the process. Law lands a Counter Shock, though the electric surge barely dents the man. He tells Vergo, smirking, that he is the single flaw in an otherwise flawless scheme. As Vergo readies the killing blow, Smoker appears to halt him, and the two square off for combat.

Monet's power is confirmed to revolve around snow and low temperatures, letting her slip through her own walls and put a captive to sleep with an embrace. Chopper reunites with a portion of his crew. When Vergo strikes his hat away, Law appears bareheaded, something never before seen anywhere in the story. The cover follows the Caribou Pirates arriving at the G-5 stronghold right as their captain faces execution by burning at the stake. This chapter belongs to the Punk Hazard Arc.
