When the minks swear that the name Raizo means nothing to them and ask the mammoth to depart, his subordinate Sheepshead announces him as Jack the Drought, a right hand to Kaidou and one of the feared Calamities. A swing of Jack's trunk levels rows of buildings, and he orders his Pleasures to despoil the land, only for minks young and old to drive them back with Electro. Monjii presses him to parley with the duke; Jack instead loosed the deadlier Gifters.

Back in the present, the group arrives at the sanatorium, where the musketeer Shishilian is flinging unruly minks into a pit before bowing low in thanks to the Straw Hats. Duke Inuarashi welcomes and thanks them yet refuses any praise, calling himself a defeated man. Wanda blames the loss on a weapon Jack brought to bear, which Chopper recognizes as Caesar's poison gas.

Jack stands revealed as a mammoth Devil Fruit user who leads the Mammoth and ranks among Kaidou's closest henchmen, his title "Jack the Drought" reflecting the rot left wherever he treads. Kaidou's crew is named the Beasts Pirates, topped by the Calamities and divided into Gifters and Pleasures, with the former bearing animal parts. Sheepshead gets a proper introduction as the Shinuchi who leads the Gifters, and Ginrummy is named. Shishilian, who captains a squad within the trio of Inuarashi's Musketeers, debuts alongside the duke himself.

The minks are presented as natural fighters who command Electro from childhood and keep their strength into old age. Luffy's eagerness over the mammoth and his careless mention of the missing ninja earn a thrashing from a crew anxious not to provoke the natives. Pandaman lurks among the tribe.
