Chapter 852

Inside the Chateau's medical room, a physician and a homie sentry marvel at how fast Reiju heals. Sanji slips in undetected, binds and blindfolds the sentry, and wakes his sister, who dimly recalls being caught in some crossfire and inspects her wounded leg. He tells her that the Memo Memo no Mi rewrote her recollection and lays out what actually occurred with Pudding.

Over in the library of prisoners, Jinbe sets fire to the book caging Luffy and Nami, freeing them along with many others. Nami, grateful but puzzled, asks what brought him here; Jinbe explains that his own Sun Pirates answer to the Big Mom Pirates, and once Nami points out the unconscious Opera, he accepts that striking a Charlotte leaves no way back. Luffy, after grumbling about hunger, recalls Pudding's warning, asks Jinbe to mind Nami, and dashes off to find and alert Sanji.

Luffy and Nami are released along with numerous unnamed prisoners, and Jinbe's open revolt against the Big Mom Pirates gets underway. The deceased Vinsmoke matriarch is identified as Sora, who fought Judge's plan and secretly dosed herself with a drug meant to cancel the surgery, a choice that weakened her and ultimately killed her while only Sanji's modification failed. According to Reiju, the Baratie faces no danger from Big Mom, Zeff included, and she admits the cuffs on Sanji's wrists are duds she swapped for the explosive originals.

The cover request shows a maestro-like bear intently studying the artwork at Robin's solo exhibition, with the word kawaii written beneath one painting. As the books burn, Nami says the situation feels like something she has been through before, echoing her earlier rescue from Galdino's wax candle set. Jinbe mentions that he and Luffy first crossed paths in a prison, a reference to Impel Down. Smoothie learns of the uprising, orders the fourth floor sealed off, and tells the soldiers they may kill the rebels if needed while keeping Big Mom uninformed.
