Kaneki's group

Kaneki's group formed when a handful of ghouls agreed to serve under Ken Kaneki and support the private goals he was chasing. Above all, Kaneki wanted to shield the friends and allies who mattered to him, a resolve that hardened after Aogiri Tree abducted him and Yamori subjected him to torture, pushing him to root out anyone he judged dangerous to his home.

The group treated Aogiri Tree, the Ghoul Restaurant, and the CCG as enemies, making resistance to those powers a central concern. It was eventually dissolved by Kaneki himself once the CCG launched its raid on Anteiku, the refuge for ghouls who believed humans and ghouls could coexist.

To keep Aogiri from seizing Professor Kanou, the group spent roughly half a year tracking the scientist. Kaneki had his own reasons for the search, hoping Kanou could answer his questions and reveal the truth behind Rize's identity and origins. After learning that Madam A employed modified humans as scrappers and connecting that to Kanou's work, Kaneki slipped into the Ghoul Restaurant with Tsukiyama's help. His bid to reach Madam A during the raid was blocked by Kurona and Nashiro, and word of the restaurant's ruin, along with talk of Kaneki's hand in it, soon circulated.

Shortly before the Owl Suppression Operation, Kaneki wound the group down, intending for everyone to head back to Anteiku. The discovery of the raid shattered that plan and forced the members to scatter. Across the following timeskip they drifted apart, each attaching to different factions and even standing against one another for a while.

Ken Kaneki led the group, with Hinami Fueguchi, Shuu Tsukiyama, Kazuichi Banjou, Ichimi, Jiro, and Sante among its ranks, and Chie Hori acting as its informant. Once the group broke up, its members spread throughout Tokyo and lost touch. Kaneki lived on as the investigator Haise Sasaki after losing his memories, Hinami went to Aogiri Tree to grow stronger, and Tsukiyama sank into a depression that lingered for years. Banjou seized leadership of the 6th ward and drew a large following, while Ichimi, Jiro, and Sante are presumed to have remained at his side. Chie Hori stayed close to Tsukiyama, working to lift him from his gloom while carrying on her trade in information. After Kaneki recovered his memories, he gathered the old members back together, and they now all belong to Goat.
