Appearance

A tomboyish fighter, Apacci is best marked by her mismatched eyes: the right one an icy blue, the left an amber ringed in blue that doubles as her estigma. Her hair is black and cut to the jaw, and a shard of her old mask sits atop her head with a single horn rising from its center. She wears the usual Arrancar garb with her own touches, including short sleeves ending in black cuffs, a v-neck, and the collars and cuffs sheathing her wrists, which are in fact her Zanpakutō. Fans of the anime will notice her hair rendered in dark blue there instead.

The seventeen months after Aizen's fall reshape her mask fragments. A long red crest now trails behind the horn in the style of a Roman legionnaire, and a blue lightning-bolt tattoo marks her left shoulder. Her wardrobe shifts as well, to black cloth worn under chest armor and black gloves reaching the elbow, plated across the backs of her hands and along her forearms. Long before any of this, in her days as a Hollow, she resembled a deer: grey-skinned with a horn and sweeping antlers, and a brown coat covering her hindquarters.

Personality

Apacci runs on a short fuse. She is brash, easily angered, impatient, and always ready to escalate a quarrel, which regularly earns her a scolding from the more composed Sung-Sun. Her devotion to Harribel is absolute, so much so that she takes Hitsugaya lifting his blade toward her master as a personal insult, and she never doubts that Harribel can win. For all her recklessness, she is not blind to real danger; during the war with the Wandenreich she warns Ichigo Kurosaki to stay clear of Ayon, drawing a line between old Shinigami rivals and the true enemy of the moment.

That loyalty traces back to her origins. Once a deer-shaped Hollow, she was cornered by another that meant to devour her until Harribel cut in and saved her. She trailed her rescuer home, met Mila Rose and Sung-Sun, and grudgingly accepted a place in the group despite disliking the idea of teamwork. Harribel's creed left a mark on her: rather than grow strong by eating other Hollows, Harribel chose to stand and fight alongside allies, a stance that would define the trio who became the Tres Bestias.

Abilities

Being both an Arrancar and one of Harribel's Fracción, she wields considerable spiritual power, enough to trade blows with a Gotei 13 lieutenant, and her reiatsu burns red. She moves through Sonído quickly enough to catch Rangiku Matsumoto, herself a Shunpo specialist. A red Cero erupts from the point of her horn, and in a running gag she can also let off a wild green one simply by sneezing. Her fists launch red Bala strong enough to blow apart Rangiku's released blade, while her natural Hierro shrugs off impacts that bend metal railings and even a burst of fire from Momo Hinamori's Tobiume. Raw muscle rounds out the package: she can hurl Rangiku across a battlefield one-handed, cave in a Quincy soldier's skull with a backhand, and crack a stone pillar with the side of her fist.

Her Zanpakutō, Cierva, takes the form of the collars locked over her wrists; drawn, they become three-bladed chakrams she can fling like boomerangs, a move called Pulsera Cuerno that slices cleanly through flesh. Releasing it at the command 'Thrust,' she sprouts brown fur, deer antlers rising over her brow, hooves in place of feet, and a short tail, both eyes turning amber under red outlines with small lightning marks on her cheeks, and her Cero grows fiercer still. Together with Mila Rose and Sung-Sun she can perform Quimera Parca, each tearing off her own left arm to fuse them into Ayon, a towering brute with a deer's skull, a black mane, cloven legs, and a serpent in place of a tail. The three claim the beast as their pet, though it never once heeds a word they say.
