Summary

Impressed by how well Hitsugaya evades her, Tier Harribel warns that dodging will not save him and drowns the battlefield with a surge of water. Watching from the sidelines, Baraggan Louisenbairn lectures Suì-Fēng that every Espada personifies one of the ten leading causes of human death, and that Harribel stands for death by self-sacrifice, predicting Hitsugaya will fall once she commits everything. Marechiyo Ōmaeda, gawking at the spectacle, earns a kick from his captain for dropping his guard mid-fight.

Hitsugaya turns Harribel's own attacks against her, freezing and redirecting her water because his ice-natured blade lets him weaponize any moisture on the field. She counters with Hirviendo to boil the ice away and floods the ground with Cascada, insisting the same rule of turning an opponent's power works both ways. On the ground, Izuru Kira struggles to heal the wounded lieutenants while Sajin Komamura and a protective barrier shield them from the rising tide. Hitsugaya shelters beneath an ice wall, breaks free, and retaliates with Guncho Tsurara and Hyōryū Senbi, realizing both fighters are stalling for the water to accumulate so they can unleash their strongest strikes. Elsewhere, Coyote Starrk and Shunsui Kyōraku trade cautious probes until Starrk begins charging a Cero without any stance.

After trading La Gota volleys and losing an ice wing to a Cero, Hitsugaya decides he no longer needs the water to build up. He traps Harribel in Sennen Hyōrō, but she melts free and looses a far larger Cascada, which he barely freezes with Ryūsenka before collapsing, drained. Refusing to stay down, he grips his sword, pours out his reiatsu, regenerates his Bankai, summons storm clouds, and declares his blade the mightiest ice type with dominion over the entire sky as he activates Hyōten Hyakkasō.

Key Events

Baraggan reveals that each Espada represents an aspect of human death and names Harribel the embodiment of sacrifice. Hitsugaya demonstrates his ability to seize control of any water on the field, prompting Harribel to escalate with Hirviendo and Cascada. The parallel confrontations of Suì-Fēng and Ōmaeda against Baraggan and of Shunsui against Starrk are shown progressing. Harribel's second, stronger Cascada nearly finishes Hitsugaya, but he freezes it and, refusing to fall, restores his Bankai and initiates the lethal Hyōten Hyakkasō to end the fight.
