Grand Fisher crumbles into the air after Isshin's single cut, leaving Kon, still inside Ichigo's body, stunned at the goofy man's power. Kisuke Urahara arrives unusually courteous, half apologizing for the spiritual pressure Isshin lost twenty years earlier, but Isshin waves it away, calling the diminished power his own to spend and naming his failure to save Masaki on the night of her death as his one lasting regret. The two confirm that the Visored have contacted Ichigo exactly as Urahara foresaw, and Isshin frames that group as renegade Shinigami who pursued Hollow power through forbidden means.

Studying how far Grand Fisher had advanced beyond any Arrancar of the past decades, Isshin lays the surge at Aizen's feet and the power of the Hogyoku, guessing the Hollow was a disposable prototype sent to measure the current Arrancar's fighting level. He warns that once Aizen perfects his work, an army of complete Arrancar and Menos Grande could crush the world, and Urahara resolves to devise a countermeasure as war looms over them, the Visored, and Soul Society alike. In the Seireitei, the surviving captains are summoned before Genryusai Shigekuni Yamamoto and his lieutenant Sasakibe, who opens an emergency captains meeting.

Grand Fisher's death is confirmed as his remains scatter. Isshin reveals that his weakened power dates back two decades and that Masaki's death remains his deepest regret. He identifies Aizen and the Hogyoku as the source of the Arrancar's sudden growth. Yamamoto convenes the depleted Gotei 13 for a captains meeting.
