Still giddy over having been invited into Ichigo's room, Orihime replays an idealized version of the visit until a stumble topples a photo of her late brother Sora, and a call from Uryu snaps her back to reality. At the Kurosaki home, Karin teases a flustered Yuzu over dinner and wonders whether Ichigo has been cold to her again, only for him to bolt out the door.

Reaching Karakura Hospital, Ichigo finds Orihime already at Uryu's bedside. Uryu, backed by his father Ryuken, refuses to share anything and sends them off, insisting the matter is not their concern. As Ryuken drives Orihime home, he explains what his examination of the residual spiritual pressure turned up: the attacker was no Hollow or Soul Reaper, but something new, most likely a human wielding power much like her own or Sado's, and he warns that both of them could be targets. Frustrated at being kept in the dark, Ichigo phones the number from Kugo's card and is welcomed by the voice of Xcution.

Ryuken's analysis identifies the enemy as a powered human rather than a spiritual being, broadening the danger to Orihime and Sado. Uryu's refusal to cooperate pushes Ichigo to take the decisive step of contacting Xcution directly.
