Summary

On a Karakura street, Hiyori Sarugaki savors an early bath until she notices none of the other Visored are answering her. Lisa Yadomaru explains that Love Aikawa left for a copy of Jump and coffee milk, and that Hachigen Ushoda took the warehouse key with him to cool off at a cafe. Hiyori grumbles that Hachi should have expected the heat in a suit, then abruptly catches the scent of a Shinigami and spots a distortion warping the air beside her.

At the Kurosaki Clinic, Yuki jolts awake on Ichigo's bed confessing he had not been listening, though Ichigo points out that no one had spoken. Orihime arrives with a tray of leftover bakery bread, and a running joke unfolds as Uryu Ishida and Yasutora Sado insist Ichigo secretly loves her baking. Yuki finally recognizes Ichigo as the Substitute from the night before, only for Ichigo to correct him: their meeting was two days ago, and Yuki has slept for more than a day.

A recollection shows that earlier fight, with Ichigo splitting a Huge Hollow's skull using his Shikai Zangetsu while Uryu clears others with Heilig Pfeil, the two bickering even as Orihime mends Shino with Soten Kisshun and readies to fight alongside them. Back in the present, Shino storms in with cola, bursts into tears at the sight of Yuki, calls him pathetic, and flattens him with a clothesline as the others fuss over spilled drinks and spare bread.

Far off in the Rukongai, Ikkaku Madarame races through the woods with Yumichika Ayasegawa, refusing to accept that residents simply vanished and vowing that someone has provoked the wrong division. At the clinic, the instant Ichigo requests his name, Asguiaro Ebern drops onto the bed and introduces himself, drawing only a blank stare and a demand that he clear off.
